That is what many people use on walkers, for similar reasons. My DH put down a desk chair mat, which is quite a bit more expensive and probably not any better. If the looks bother you, embellish them or use permanent markers to change the looks. Button faces might work for you.

Smart thinking. We put tennis balls on my moms walker and it really made it easier for her to use it.

I have the same sewing machine and stool! I was using it today to reupholster leather cushions. I call it my 'tank'. You just can't find sewing machines made like these anymore. I was sewing thick leather, in 2 layers it came to a full 1/4" thickness. It didn't even hiccup. What a great sewing machine! I have the Centennial 15-91.

Christine: Mine is a Centennial 15-91 as well! Her name is My Sweet Ada, named after my G'ma Drake, but this was my Mother's machine -- purchased the same year I was born. In high school, I sewed a vest out of leather and suede scraps. I did invest in a leather needle for her, but she and her metal gears went right through those layers.

I keep saying that if she ever does quit working (which I don't expect) that she'll make a great boat anchor, because she weighs a ton!

If you go to your local tennis club you can often get used balls. These do not off gas and sometimes you can get different colours . I have some navy blue ones. Sure save on the floors but took awhile for my dog to stop trying to carry them off:)

Oh, this is just too amazing. I have laminate floors and have gone almost crazy trying to keep something on the bottoms of chair legs to prevent scratching. I do a lot of stuff with dogs and I already knew there are smaller tennis balls for small dogs so when I started googling I found pre-cut tennis balls for chairs. :) There were a couple of different sites. One has a lot of different colors and another had different sizes. So if you are looking for something in, say, your kitchen or living room it might be possible to get something that blends in a bit better than a the standard bright green tennis ball.
