Machine needle organization
Like all of us, I have all sizes of machine needles for woven and knit fabric. I keep them in original packages for best identification but I’d sure be interested in hearing or seeing your ideas.

I leave them in the original pkg. and stand them up in a little clear plastic candy container. On used needles, I stick the needle through a piece of paper that has the information written on it and into my pin cushion.
|
I use this box for storage. There are 18 compartments so plenty of room for different types and sizes. I put a green label on the serger needles so they aren't accidentally mixed in with other machines. Each section can hold 8 packs of needles.
https://www.joann.com/artbin-tarnish...prefv1=Product I use the same size box for storing machine feet. Each machine has a separate box that is labeled for the machine. |
I keep them in thier original packages and label the drawers with the size and type. I use one of these:

My "new" needle stash is in a plastic box similar to what RhondaK has shown.
Plastic "spools" for embroidery floss, are labelled as to type of needle, and size, with the corresponding needle packages (original) behind. Like a little filing cabinet! :) Used needles are kept separate from this box in a piece of quilted fabric, labelled with a Sharpie as to what they are. Garbage needles ... go into an old piggy bank, along with old rotary blades and pins. It'll be a long time til I have to figure out how to truly dispose of them, but it's a handy and safe storage system for now! |
I keep in original container.

I also found https://ceodraiocht.wordpress.com/20...quick-project/ and https://www.quiltingboard.com/missio...e-t210927.html As I started finding old blister packs for Singer sewing machine needles, I found they were longer and didn't fit nicely in the file box. Those I started putting in plastic pencil boxes. If you don't keep the cardboard another option would be those hanging jewelry organizers. Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. |
I have a similar box to Rhonda only mine came from Home Depot or Sears hardware. I can't remember.
|
I leave mine in the original containers until I'm ready to use them.
