Moved from linen closet to bedroom closet

4 Attachment(s)
I finally got disgusted enough with my fabric stash always being a mess and me never finding what I needed. So my husband agreed that moving the stash from the linen closet in the hall (the main storage space) to the spare bedroom might be the answer.

We bought a closet organizer from IKEA, and I found a local comic book store and bought almost all of his comic boards. All the pieces 1 yard or larger are wrapped on full boards. I cut boards in half and wrapped fq and pieces smaller than a yard. Still have a lot of work to do with my scrap baskets, but now I love to "shop" my stash.

The first 2 pics are of the old linen closet. Sliding doors were put back on the new bedroom storage after I took the pics.

Looks great! The mini blots make your stash so much nicer.

Emma S 07-11-2014 05:29 PM

I bet you use more of your stash now. Love how it looks.

What a difference! Organizing your stash like that makes it so much more user friendly! I did this to my stash earlier this year and have been amazed at how much more I shop my stash! You should be proud!

Great job.

roserips 07-12-2014 07:12 AM

Doesn't it make you feel so good to be able to look at your fabric and dream of what you will make. You did a great job organizing it, so now enjoy.

cashs_mom 07-12-2014 07:17 AM

Very nice. Good job!

I have 2 closets in my sewing room. Since I do garment sewing I have lots of yardage. Closets are wondeful for that. If I ever get my stash down to less yardage and more smaller pieces, I'm going to remember your nice shelving and use that.

Nice! You must have a tremendous sense of accomplishment!

My cutting table is in this room, but my sewing table is set up near the kitchen.

RedGarnet222 07-12-2014 08:05 AM

What a difference that is! I know you are going to love the 'shopping' for your quilts much more now. I really need to organize my stash better. It is overflowing into the spare rooms with bins. Yikes! My problem is I have my fabrics and then there is the donated fabrics for charity that must be kept separate.

tessagin 07-12-2014 08:09 AM

Looks great. Sew much easier to shop at home!

JoyceHoopes 07-12-2014 02:32 PM

I keep saying I'll organize and I keep procrastinating. It's probably because I'm really afraid to see just how "much" I really have. Joyce in Delaware

Looks great!

quiltingeileen 07-12-2014 03:13 PM

Lookin' good!

DonnaC 07-13-2014 04:31 AM

WHOA! That is a huge difference! Looks awesome. :)

farmquilter 07-13-2014 05:33 AM

I agree with DonnaC, what a difference, how long did it take you to get from the linen closet to the better one. I have got to have my comic boards meet my fabrics, they are in the same room.

feffertim 07-13-2014 06:20 AM

I keep my stash on comic boards too, it looks so nice and keeps me organized

mjhaess 07-13-2014 06:35 AM

Looks great...Very organized I would say...

joyce888 07-13-2014 08:27 AM

Great organization. As weird as this sounds sometimes I wish I had that small of a stash; but I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to it back to overwhelming.

wolph33 07-13-2014 08:48 AM

much better,looks beautiful now

Surprisingly only about 3 days, and that is NOT working on it all the time. I would wrap onto the comic boards while watching tv. I have to multi task or I get bored really fast.

matraina 07-13-2014 05:40 PM

Wow, what a difference! Nice going.

joyful1 07-13-2014 06:43 PM

You did a great job on organizing you stash, looks great now!

zozee 07-14-2014 09:50 AM

Wow! Wonderful transformation, Although your linen closet looked fairly organized, I can understand the frustration of having stuff topple over and get smushed and lost. Just 3 days! I'm always surprised that it takes less time to do than to put off!

Good work. I'm sure you're loving your little quilt shoppe at home.

Jingle 07-15-2014 12:35 PM

That was a great idea, much nicer now.

Mariposa 07-16-2014 07:49 AM

Fun! Easier to see your fabrics. Nicely done!

cherylmae 12-22-2015 12:31 AM

Wow, what a difference that made, good going, nice

rryder 12-27-2015 07:31 AM
