My new ironing table

1 Attachment(s)
Saw this on another quilters facebook posting. Hardwood workbench from Harbor Freight topped w/a canvas covered board for ironing surface. I am so much happier with this than my old ironing board. :)

Tiggersmom 01-26-2016 09:23 AM

Wonderful and more stable than a regular ironingboard.

lyndaj 01-26-2016 09:36 AM

Really nice!

quiltingcandy 01-26-2016 09:57 AM

That is a wonderful use. Wish I had the room, those drawers would be wonderful to have right there.

Watson 01-26-2016 09:59 AM

Wow, nice. And so big to iron whole quilt tops and backings on!

Gramie bj 01-26-2016 09:59 AM

OH! I like this, wish I had room for it.

Annaquilts 01-26-2016 10:21 AM

Great idea!

zozee 01-26-2016 10:30 AM

It's handsome, sturdy, and has good storage. Great find!

ManiacQuilter2 01-26-2016 10:45 AM

Nicely done and with additional storage too.

Tartan 01-26-2016 11:18 AM

Looking good! That is a nice work bench and it would work for a buffet table as well.

Pudge 01-26-2016 11:46 AM

You are brilliant. It's a beautiful, sturdy and useful table. And at 33 inches high it should work very well for cutting.

AUQuilter 01-26-2016 12:20 PM

Great ironing station!

sherian 01-26-2016 02:18 PM

Looks great, will work wonderful I am sure. Second thought you could take ironing board off top and use for cutting with a cutting mat. Then could iron or cut or measure. I like your thinking.
Going back through posted items I see someone else already had the idea.

nunnyJo 01-26-2016 02:49 PM

Sweet, needs more room then I have.

Cam's gram 01-26-2016 03:16 PM

That's wonderful! Does it have drawers too? I want one!! I just looked up Harbor Freight and there is one in the next city. Does it come already assembled?

patsews 01-26-2016 03:16 PM

This might make a really nice cutting table as well!

jmoore 01-26-2016 06:32 PM

looks beautiful auntjo... should give you a sturdy ironing platform.

lindaschipper 01-27-2016 05:47 AM

If my sewing room could have accommodated it, I'd have one too. Just not enough wall space with 3 machines. As it is, Steve made me a quilters ironing board (25 x 65) for Christmas. Love it.

LindaJ 01-27-2016 05:47 AM

Nice, looks good and sturdy compared to my ironing board.

Sew Freak 01-27-2016 06:12 AM

wow!!! really nice! and good thinking on using a workbench.

Dar-midlife 01-27-2016 08:26 AM

I like it! I might have to check that out; we recently have a Harbor Freight in my "shopping" town and have been itching to get in there to look around. Now I have a reason:-)

Clmay 01-27-2016 09:22 AM

Thanks for this idea. I have a Harbor Freight near by. I will have to look into it.

whitpat 01-27-2016 10:38 AM

my new ironing board

we got a new harbor freight catalog today (1/27). the catalog said postmaster should deliver between 1/30 and 2/1, so i assume the sale starts 2/1? this table is advertised for $159.99. should you have a h.f. 20% coupon, that is even better. hope this helps for anyone who is interested in purchasing a workbench/ironing table.

lynnie 01-27-2016 10:45 AM

wow, what a beauty she is! I'm jealous!

Carol34446 01-27-2016 12:15 PM

Wish I had room for it, have looked at them for many uses. But no place to put it so I will just look and dream.

callen 01-27-2016 01:26 PM

Awesome, love it !!

ladyinpurple135 01-27-2016 05:46 PM

I am so glad to see a picture of this table from Harbor Freight. I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing but just wasn't sure - and the table is usually so reasonable to purchase. I have had a big board for some time but just didn't want to use an ironing board. Thank you so much for your post.

You're in business now!! Congratulations!

ka9sdn 01-28-2016 05:02 AM

Saw this yesterday and was headed to town so got one and it is being put up right now. I have a big board ironing board on top of my ironing table so just have to move it over. Thanks, had never seen it assembled at the store. For the gal who asked, you put it together yourself (instructions included). We are adding a stabilizer bar on the back.

gramquilter2 01-28-2016 12:28 PM

Super ironing table.

Fabric Galore 01-28-2016 02:44 PM

How great! I need to look into this. I'm always afraid one of my dogs will knock over the ironing board and send a hot iron crashing to the floor. This bench is just what I need. Thanks for sharing.

Mariposa 01-28-2016 02:45 PM

That's a great looking set up!

Does this table come fully assembled? I looked online, and I saw these four spikes sticking up, plus the vice on the side. Did you have to saw those down? ([email protected])

slk350 01-29-2016 08:39 PM

That is a super idea, but I don't really have the space. I have a big board that sits on top of my regular ironing board. I can take it off when needed.

The table comes completely unassembled. Just don't insert the dowels or vice assembly. I laid the rubber gripper mat on the top to stop the ironing board from slipping.

QuiltnLady1 01-30-2016 01:06 PM

Great idea -- thanks.

Just checked -- the table is 60" long and I don't have that much room. Sigh.

mjhaess 02-03-2016 08:46 AM

Great ironing board....

lenyadora 02-20-2016 10:28 AM

muy bien hecho , ideal

Great idea-have to see if I can fit one in my room. Two questions though-stabilizer bar? To stabilize what?

redstilettos 06-08-2016 04:05 AM

I think my husband will fall off his rocker if I ask to stop at Harbor Freight on the way out of town.....

Might be worth it just to see the look on his face.
LOL
