My new sewing studio

6 Attachment(s)
This is my new sewing studio that my DH build for me when he built his new garage. The room is 15' x 30' and holds all my machines: Sewing, upholstery, long arm, serger and emboidery. It is really nice to have them all in one place.

I still have a sewing room in the house that I do use on occasion, but most of the time I am in the shop.

Awesome room!!!!!!!!!!!

spartan quilter 02-20-2012 05:59 PM

That is absolutely gorgeous. Where is the microwave, frig & coffee pot? I can't imagine ever leaving that room. lol

tebill 02-20-2012 06:05 PM

I love your studio! So bright and organized! Would you please tell me the name of the pattern used on the quilt that's on your longarm? I wonder if ombre fabric would work on that pattern! A gorgeous workspace that you must spend countless hours in!

Katia 02-20-2012 06:11 PM

WOW, WOW, WOW, your studio is fantastic. I doubt I would ever leave.

Whigrose 02-20-2012 06:16 PM

Great space! It is so light. You are a lucky girl.

best,
d

What a nice room, and so spacious. The quilt on the long arm reminded me of the bus on the Partidge Family. Made me smile when the song "Feeling Happy" came to mind. :-)

Okay, your studio is absolutely amazing, your quilts on the walls and your design wall are stunning, but I gotta say, roll around tool boxes, now I am sooo jealous! I'm going to show my husband! I love your studio, kudos to your husband!

paulswalia 02-21-2012 04:57 AM

Put a recliner in there to sleep on and a phone to order out for dinner and I'd move in permanently! Cudos to your husband - he deserves a kiss!

sweet 02-21-2012 05:15 AM

What a wonderful space!

ranbro 02-21-2012 05:50 AM

WOW OH WOW--what a room !!!!!

Sewfine 02-21-2012 06:16 AM

What an awesome studio. Wish I had one like that. A roll around toolbox must house all your sewing and quilting notions.

AUQuilter 02-21-2012 06:26 AM

What a fabulous space! Thanks for sharing.

lillybeck 02-21-2012 06:34 AM

The pattern is The cut-up by www.piecedtreepatterns.com .They are really neat patterns. They come on a 3" x 5" card that contains the pattern & picture of the quilt. She has several different patterns. She came to our quilt club to talk and I fell in love with her patterns.

This pattern calls for a layer cake. I used scraps and this quilt will be donated to our local Hospice auction fundraiser.

Yes, I love tool boxes on wheels. Everything in the shop is movable. The desks are on sliders and the big table is on wheels, also. DH made the table for upholstery. It is 5' x 8'. I love it. Works well for cutting and measuring.

Sorry I tried to explain more with the pictures, but kept getting kicked off the wed site, so figured I would just answer questions about the room. I can really have trouble with posting on this site.

What an absolutely wonderful space you have. I love the way you have it decorated. I would love to know the name of the pattern in the third picture (looks like a swirly heart) it's beautiful. I can't imagine ever living a space like that.

valleyquiltermo 02-21-2012 08:41 AM

WOW such a peaceful place to quilt so bright and cherry. You DH deserves kudos for all the work he done it's very special. I love your fiber art quilts on the walls. I agree you need a fridge and microwave and coffee pot.
I have them in my studio and love having them there, mine is 25' by 26'. But I am in the process of building a new house with a new studio in it, lots more room then I have now. About 1000 sq foot. Right now I have about 500 sq foot.

RonieM 02-21-2012 08:46 AM

Fantastic studio!

tebill 02-21-2012 08:47 AM

Thank you so much! We are busy renovating my sewing room and soon I'll be able to get back to sewing again! Off I go to look for the pattern!

With you being in Florida, he might take you up on it. Although Iowa has been real decent this winter.

Great room I'm waiting for my husband to get the new garage up so I can get my room should be about the same size as yours will save this post for ideas.

collady 02-21-2012 02:48 PM

Lucky you! Again I am green-eyed with jealousy! Some day I will have a few improvements in my sewing room, if my poor dh every gets to retire from all his jobs that have attached themselves to him since he retired!

karenpatrick 02-21-2012 03:00 PM

Oh what a lucky girl you are!! What I'd give for a space like that to quilt in. I sew in about half of a 10' X 12' guest bedroom that I have to clean up if we have company. My next house will have a heated and a/c sun porch for a sewing studio (or I won't buy it)! I guess I should be grateful that I have a space at all.

quilter1942 02-21-2012 03:10 PM
