My sewing room and refuge!

I have finally had time to reorganize my sewing area since I retired a few months ago. I repurposed a couple of the closet/storage cabinets that were no longer needed in a spare bedroom. I took out the hanging rod and added shelves so now my stash is where I can see it & know what I have. Also a couple of pictures of the rest of the room. My thread is stored in tackle boxes, just the right size for the many embroidery threads I have. Also used 3-Litre "Useful boxes" from Office Depot to store the embroidery designs CD's. Thanks for looking.

Wow, that is quite the sewing room! It looks as though your machine is being attacked by a rather large quilt. :)

quiltingeileen 02-02-2013 11:44 AM

Wow! A large amount of cabinets and shelves. Lucky you. Love your space. Enjoy.

RedGarnet222 02-02-2013 12:07 PM

What a wonderful space to work in.

deanneellen 02-02-2013 12:37 PM

What a great space to sew and create in!Nice that it is so big and roomy. My room must also function as a spare bedroom at times so I have a daybed in there with a pull out trundle underneath. Takes up a lot of room but also a great place for an afternoon nap!

nygal 02-02-2013 12:47 PM

Great sewing place! Nice windows!

DonnaC 02-03-2013 02:32 PM

Lucky gal! What a nice bunch of cabinetry you have. Great idea for storing the embroidery thread too. I use tackle boxes for all sorts of things in my sewing room. My regular threads, I keep in those plastic cases for Matchbox cars!

mountain deb 02-03-2013 09:37 PM

A lot better organized than mine. I do not think I will be able to retire to enjoy my addiction.

champagnebubbles 02-03-2013 09:55 PM

Love your room!

earthwalker 02-03-2013 09:58 PM

Looks like a perfect place to hideaway and get creative. Gold star for organisation too, I might add:)

Lovely space! I'm envious of all that storage.

quiltstringz 02-04-2013 12:55 PM

Wow - I don't think I have ever seen that much storage and cabinet space in a sewing room before. Bet it makes it easier to keep things put up

Great space, I love my sewing room also, but it is alot smaller 10 x 10, but it works for me. Can you tell me what and where you got your sewing table? Is it also a cutting table? and does it fold up? Thanks

vintagetouch 02-09-2013 03:23 PM

I love how much space you have and how you have organized your threads. Beautiful!
