My sewing studio (my cave) is always evolving .....

For our anniversary, DH bought me a ping pong table so I can sandwich quilts upright - hooray! Now I can finally use the huge Horn cutting mat that came with my table. I have been teaching a friend to quilt, so I have a small folding table set up for her, and the ping pong table offers much needed storage underneath. I will move the table out when I do a marathon of sandwiching using industrial clamps to hold the backing. Thank you Carnell for making my quilting life so much easier!
I should have painted the walls before I took over the enclosed garage - my stepsons were pretty hard on the walls when they used this as their "space!" So please excuse the ugly walls :) |
Wonderful room!

Nice sewing space! Who cares about the walls when you are going to cover them with shelves of FABRIC!

What a nice "garage".........I wish I had this much space for all of my quilting. You will probably spend much time in your "cave"........The walls look OK to me. Those young men had many hours of fun there and now it is your turn to have fun......

Wow you have a great sewing space. I have a ping-pong table that I got at a garage sale, I keep it folded up in the garage and when I need to pin a quilt I just pull out the car and unfold the table wish I had the space to keep it down all the time like you do.
|
Ping Pong table? Now that's a great idea. Didn't think of that. You can fold it in half and push it out of the way. I need to keep that one in mind. May need to see if I can find one in a garage sale. NICE STUDIO!

Great room and Great space to creat and teach in.
Couldn't help but notice a place of honor by your TV. Your Featherweight looks very nice there. |
Love the idea of the ping-pong table! I nabbed an idea from somewhere can't remember and it's wonderful too. Put sheets of ceiling panels on wall, and using the spray adhesive for quilting layer your quilt upright. It saves lot a time and backaches. I do have an extra tall husband, 6'5" with long arms so when he is around I sweeten the pot for him to manage the upper end. lol, he loves working with me.

I didn't see any walls.
Was tooooo busy looking at the nice space. J J |
Good for you!! Congratulations on a wonderful sewing room. Many of us wouldn't have room for a ping pong table but what a great idea if you have the space - have fun!!

Great space to quilt. I would never leave it. Just a coffee pot, cup, and my fabric and a bathroom of course and I am happy.
|
You have a great space-walls can always be done sometime.....
Your room is large and bright and has all your sewing treasures so is paint necessary? |
Very pretty space, you will love it there. Enjoy.
|
Your space is awesome!

I use a hollow door without the hole, for my cutting table. It holds the giant sized cutting mat nicely, and it is long enough for me to have my machine on the end. I love it. It is sitting on an old computer desk. So it is a great height. I have used this method for years, and it is wonderful.
