My Very Small sewing room
8 Attachment(s)
We moved from Maryland to Phoenix and into a smaller house. My sewing room is 8 x 8 with a good sized closet. We are renters so limited in what we wanted to do in the closet. Just a couple of shelves that will be easy to remove.
The Handiquilter lives in an alcove in the living room. I use the Ikea cart for all the pieces to the current project I am working on. Once it is done, then everything gets put away. I use to pile stuff everywhere and get frustrated finding things ALL the time. My ironing surface is half a piece of plywood that sits on top of a garage sale dresser. This holds a huge amount of supplies. The cutting surface is a kitchen cart from target. The sewing table belonged to my Mom. I ruler fold my fabric. I am a very prolific charity quilter and have lots of fabric donated to me. I am fairly tidy and clean up after every project. I do not sew well in a cluttered. After dealing with a bunch of UFOs I am pretty much a one project at a time gal. I also did too many free BOMs last year and finally finished them all up. I love spending time in there and work as a part time nanny. That leaves me plenty of quilting time. |
Very nice -- you have a lot of good ideas for organizing a small space.

Nice and cozy!

Bravo! You have an efficient system for organizing, keeping things neat and tidy, and decorated with personality. I love the punches of aqua paint.

Looks like you are using your walls and floor space wisely. Keep up the good work - putting things away after a project is the best way to keep the room neat and tidy. Keep on quilting!

looks like you've done a great job organizing and with storage given the space you have... I hope you get many hours of enjoyment in your new sewing space.

You look very well organized. Just be careful, you might want to make a heat resistant curtain to hang by a push rod inside your window if you get the direct hot summer sun beating down on you. It will feel like a furnace is outside your window. I bought some W&N Warm Window over a year and a half ago and it makes a difference.

ManiacQuilter2. That is a great idea. I have a bird feeder out by that window that I like to watch. I never heard of that Warm Window stuff.

Being a Marylander myself, I meant to ask where in MD you moved from?
