redstilettos, the table is 4' x 8'. Tried to find a cutting mat to fit the original table and couldn't so made the table to fit the mat I could find. Its reversible and self healing. Love it.

This is just my cutting/fabric room. The other half of my basement houses my quilting, embroidery and serging machines. Also have 2 cabinets full of apparel fabrics. Not so nice looking there yet but give me time. I like organization. Also under my quilt frame is more fabrics I have no room to bring out. Basement seemed to shrink on me somehow...lol

Wow! Look at all of that color...and order! Truly impressive. I can see why your books may go untouched.

Beautiful eye candy! Love the look of your fabric showing and since it looks like you might be in a basement with no windows, it is safe from fading. I am building a new home and a new sewing room. Can you tell me about what you did with your cutting table, pressing station, and sewing machine table? Very interested. Did you or someone make them and can you describe or did you buy them?

I am so amazed at the amount of fabric some of you quilters have. You could start your own quilt shop. Great setup.

Ahaaaaa, I was looking and looking and wondered where your sewing machine was. Wow wow. Made sure my husband saw this and I read about your library as he thinks I've got too much of both and not a quarter of what you have. Just beautiful!!!

Pahega, I made my own cutting table. I used the bottom half of 2 custom made bookcases (with doors for books) to hold the plywood. I had ordered 5/8" plywood but realized too late they sent me 1/2". I varnished it..4' x 8'. I ordered a reversible self-healing mat from online to fit the new table, added a trim piece to the edges to keep it from shifting.....not that it ever would as heavy as it is. I have one small sewing machine sitting at one end just for adding long borders or binding to the quilts. This gives me lots of room to move the quilt around instead of it hanging over the side.

The pressing table is again a piece of plywood....2' x 4'......covered it with some leftover 100% cotton batting I had laying around.....2 layers.............picked up some ticking fabric and stapled it from the underneath side. I had some metal "L" brackets laying around in my workshop......(yes, I play with power tools too) and attached them on the underside to keep the plywood from shifting when pressing my fabrics. Still need to tweak it as when I'm pressing hard on one end it occasionally pops up so need to remedy that problem. Otherwise I love my pressing station.

My design wall to the left though you may not be able to see it in my pics will be made up of 1.5" styrafoam cut to fit my area...........96W x 70L with a flannel piece cut to one size. The one I have now is just old batting stapled to wood pieces. Works okay but not as well as I'd like.

Thanks for looking.

A lovely room, you will enjoy every minute in it.

lots2do.......actually the fabrics are in color order but not from light to dark within the colors themselves. My helpers just put them up onto the shelves as I gave them the piles. Later when things calm down I'll go thru it all and put them in the order I'd like them to be. I also have them by type such as batiks, collections, flannels, etc.

WOW!! I've seen quilt shops that are not that organized. A shop & a studio in one - you are a lucky lady. Kathy
