New sewing room

3 Attachment(s)
I wish I had remembered to take before pictures. But, it was not pretty, the walls were drab & in need of fresh paint. It had carpet that was long past it's lifespan. It had mis matched of broken down cabints & dressers. It was not an inspiring place to be creative & not much truely usable space.

Now there is room for everything to be organized & what is not in use has a place to be stored away.

There is a large closet not in the pictures that has additional storage. New cabinets, new cork flooring & new cabinests.

It is not a huge room, but it is now perfect for what I needed it to be. The walls are waiting for my daughter & I to add our own creations soon.

The first two pics are the same wall different views, the last is the design wall where my daughter does her sewing.

I'm green with envy. Love the color of your room and that wall hanging is so cute, too. Interested in the cork flooring you used. I really need to make my room more creative and pretty. Thanks for posting.

What a great space. I'm sure the two of you will enjoy it, together. Any info you can share on the spool blocks? Love the colors you used for them.

Great room, I am jealous but proud for you. I am a clutterer but try to keep my quilting in some sort of order. LOL
Have fun and many hours of family time with your daughter.

Although green is not my favorite color, I have to admit that I am EXTREMELY green with envy. It's a great room.

Girlfriend 01-22-2013 07:52 AM

This is a great area. I especially like the long counter space to sew. Did you have the cabinets custom built?

pinebeltquilter 01-22-2013 08:08 AM

Very nice, I can see where you would be creative in such a pretty setting. Happy sewing!

NanaCsews2 01-22-2013 08:13 AM

Fantastic! Enjoy it! Love that big window in front of the sewing.

vondae 01-22-2013 08:27 AM

Beautiful & inspirational room. Very open. I am still in the process of setting up my after a move last year. I finished up the valances yesterday & put them up. Really livened up the room. I used a fabric with a cream background but, has bright cheerful colors. I love what they do for the room. Your green walls do that also. So now you can go forth, create & conquer those straight seams. LOL!! You & your daughter will enjoy it for a long, long, time.

Wonderful sewing room!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fireworkslover 01-22-2013 09:01 AM

Nice to see someone else using cork flooring. I have that in my sewing room too. I grew up with cork flooring as we couldn't have carpeting because of allergies in the family. I love it. It seems warmer than wood plank flooring or artifical plank flooring.

The spool blocks are a pattern by Thimble Blossom called "Spools" http://thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com...-roll-patterns. I made mine from a kit from Hancock of Paducah when it was on sale. It was the first time I used a kit & really enjoyed it, I had fabric left over.

Thank you. The cabinets were not custom made, they came from Home Depot & were affordable for the few I needed.

My2Yorkies 01-22-2013 12:16 PM

Very nice! I love the green and openess of the room. Happy sewing!

quiltingeileen 01-22-2013 01:44 PM

Good for you! Love the window over your machine. It will give you lots of additional light! How lucky are you that your DD sews with you.

I wish I had your sewing area. It's so nice, and spacious. Here is a pic of my sewing (corner). I just moved and don't have a lot of space in my new home. To conserve space and money, I bough an IKEA table ($15.00) and drawers ($20.00). Affordable, but not a lot of space. Had to fit cutting, sewing, and ironing all on one table. Yikes.

Wanna trade?? LOL

Great space to create! And "Girlfriend" your space looks fun too, I do my cutting on the kitchen counter as it's the right height for me.... it's been days since the counter has been cleared for food prep as I'm in the middle of a project. :p

AuntieD 01-22-2013 04:16 PM

Great room, love the green wall color!

Very lovely room. So crisp and inviting. Enjoy.

joyce888 01-22-2013 05:11 PM

Very nice and love the flooring.

Tothill 01-22-2013 05:27 PM

I love your wall colour!

Seeing your space makes me want to empty out my room and redo it completely. The cork flooring must be so very comfortable to stand on. I have painted concrete. I would have to put down a subfloor and it is just now in the budget right now.

I cut on top on the deep freeze (which is right outside my basement sewing room. It is the perfect height for me.

Jackie R 01-22-2013 05:28 PM

What and awesome room - love that huge beautiful window too.

Mariposa 01-22-2013 05:40 PM

Here's to many happy hours of sewing! What a lovely room for you and your daughter! Love the green, and you will like the cork flooring!!
