Organized Chaos

I think more of us, than will admit, that have Crafting/Sewing rooms that look similiar to this.

Forgot to get pic of other wall.....Nothing special just a wall with Tables & Sewing Machines & Serger.

Ok Ladies...Fess up with your Organized Chaos!

Ladyjanedoe 11-23-2011 11:41 AM

No, I do not have a pink flamingo :)

Ok, seriously, I am one of those annoying neat people who doesn't do much sewing because I'm too busy 'organizing'. :(

BarbaraSue 11-23-2011 11:43 AM

Oh my, I could just walk in and join you any day! That is about what mine looks like, although you can't see my table except its legs right now!!
I like that--- organized chaos! Yep, that's me.

No, I don't have a flamingo either. But I have other stuffed funky things to make up for it.

everbtrue 11-23-2011 11:44 AM

Looks so much like mine! My pink flamingo is really a green satin frog looking down on my little piece of heaven! Thanks for the honesty.

April X 11-23-2011 11:51 AM

I do actually get lots of quilts made check my Album

http://www.quiltingboard.com/members...lbums1050.html

My Mother & I work on them together mostly.

happymrs 11-23-2011 12:19 PM

We all need our spaces to call our own, who cares what they look like, as long as you can find what you are looking for, right! Mine isn't too bad, but everytime I spend a little time organizing, then I can't find what I want, so I limit my time spent doing that, lol. I think we should keep our spaces however we feel like keeping them, & have fun being amongst it all! I just love being able to have it all in one room, or close anyway....

wow..I don't feel so bad about mine at all now...and they called ME a hoarder! IN all fairness to myself, this has been cleaned/straightened up since these pix were taken...when it is finished I will take NEW pix!

MaryMo 11-23-2011 12:38 PM

You all make me feel so "normal". I, too, have been accused of being a hoarder. Thanks for daring to post.

Lori S 11-23-2011 12:55 PM

Wow , Ladies ... The amount of ..."STUFF" you have in those rooms is ..... surprising ... ! My space looked similar till I just could not take it anymore... It's better and doubt it will look like the some the amazingly tidy spaces that I have seen posted. But once I re-organized I felt much better, and it was even more fun spending time in my sanctuary.

Thanks for sharing your room - mine is about the same. I have good intentions of sorting, folding, cleaning -just hasn't happened yet. I'm sure I'll find hidden / forgotten treasures when (IF) I ever get it spruced up as planned.

Sienna's GiGi 11-23-2011 02:27 PM

Y'all make me feel sooooo good about myself and my sewing space. Its good to know that I am normal. I am a hoarder too so I also applaud y'all for showing pictures. Thanks for sharing.

QuiltnNan 11-23-2011 03:54 PM

mine doesn't look as neat and organized as yours right now :)

barri1 11-23-2011 04:23 PM

One day I will take pictures.. but mine are stacked in six sweater containers.. Think I'd have a little anxiety with all of that.. I'm in a one bedroom apartment, and am working on five crumb chaos quilts at the same time.. You bet I'm having a problem with all of it.. If you want to part with any of it, PM me.. I'd be glad to pay for shipping.. I'm looking for scraps..

I think it's awesome that those of you who posted pictures *have* a sewing room. Who cares what's in it? As long as you can work, that's all that matters. I am neat freak too, and when my sewing room is built, it will be neat-ish. As far as I am concerned, the sewing room is like the bedroom of a teenager: if you don't want to look at it, close the door.

jillnjo 11-23-2011 04:59 PM

Wow- I can't begin to imagine all the great quilts and craft projects that could come out of that room!!! Stay busy and don't worry about it if it don't bother you!

LindaM 11-23-2011 05:03 PM

Yup, looks like home :) My pink flamingo is a Shari Lewis "Lambkin"

KerryK 11-23-2011 06:36 PM

That would drive me nuts! BUT, if it works for you, it's your room and that is all that counts! They look like fun rooms, and they show lots of personality. So what's wrong with them? Absolutely nothing! You go, Girls!

annthreecats 11-23-2011 06:50 PM

I can only say I wish I had the stash I see in those pictures. My fabric stash fits in a large plastic tub and it's not quite full, so I'm a little envious.

earthwalker 11-23-2011 06:54 PM

Yay...I'm not alone...no pink flamingo, but a Golly my step-sons bought for my birthday....I am endeavouring to reform my hoarding ways....but when it comes to my half of the workroom (my husband has the other half)....well chaos is an understatement.....but the dogs find it comfy. As I type they are sleeping under the computer and the sewing table. Can't tidy up now...might wake them:)

Barbm 11-23-2011 07:03 PM

I'm in the process of "cleaning" mine. I was to take over my son's bedroom as a sewing room but hubby said we still needed a guest room (he is right, darn) so I painted and bought some antique furniture. Right now I am unpacking boxes and realized this isn't going to work. I put my machine and some things in the closet- so I can just close the doors and no one will see the mess. But there's no where to spread out and cut, etc. So I'm back to my idea of redoing the basement into a room. I'm going to post pics soon. My "mess" is currently on the dining room table but I'm off to pack it up so we can actually eat at the table tomorrow. Thought about the formal living room because we don't use it, but I just cleaned and organized there and I don't want to mess it up. Sigh, where am I going to sew?

I agree. When we built this house I designed my studio. Now I just need the cash to fill it!

JoyceRowell 11-24-2011 04:09 AM

well I think the rooms look like they are used a lot and isn't that what they are for? My room is so small my things won't fit in it so my stuff is spread out all over the house but who cares, I say is people come to see me they should not look at the mess. If I clean it than I never can find what I want or need so I leave it where I know where to get it. Thanks for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

franc36 11-24-2011 04:57 AM

Wow! I'm impressed with your stash! I'd love to have as much space as you have. I'll bet you enjoy sewing there.

Sorry those rooms would drive me nuts too. Glad to hear you're getting lots of quilting done though. (Thumbs Up...my smilies don't work)

EARTHWALKER You're soooo sweet not to clean and wake up the doggies! Don't we spoil our animals? :)

BARBM - go to the basement - You'll LoveIt!

Eliebelle 11-24-2011 05:56 AM

Mine isn't quite there yet - I showed your pics to my husband and told him to stop complaining about how much fabric I have. I was laughing hysterically because of how close to you I'm getting!!!

Shelbie 11-24-2011 05:58 AM

I have two small bedrooms with too much stuff (according to my DH) but it is my stuff and it keeps me sane, productive and happy. It is boxed, drawered and labelled so any quilter could walk in there and find what they needed fairly quickly. I've contemplated and even started with giving some of it away but it seems that as soon as I do that, I need it. I've now decided that I will just continue to do what I love and if the day comes when I'm not using it anymore or have no desire to stitch, then I'll clean it all out and give it away (DD says then she'll know that is the day that I need to move into "The Home"!) I have just decided not to feel guilty about any of it and I love having three sewing machines set up ready to go.

Pat G 11-24-2011 07:52 AM

I thought I had a "stash" til I saw your room. Mine is just a "sample" compared to yours. What fun!

Stitchit123 11-24-2011 08:10 AM

I'm Felix Ungers niece ... I can't stand clutter -drives me batty --My DH always said I could organize a rock pile

weasier22 11-24-2011 08:37 AM

I just got a sewing/craft/office room this summer as my son bought a house and now I have that room all to myself! YEAH! I admit...it's getting crowded in there, but I love my space! I try to keep it organized, but that just doesn't seem to happen. Thanks for sharing!

nitza 11-24-2011 10:02 AM

My space is in my bedroom, I'm looking for an armoire or entertainment center to house my stuff in and a desk for sewing. my son calls me a horder and I just told him these are my "tools" I may not use them today or tomorrow but when I need them I have them handy. Just try and tell a man he has too many screwdrivers. LOL

Caro 11-24-2011 11:16 AM

I see Dear Jane Blocks in there???

kandee 11-24-2011 11:33 AM

And I thought that only I had a crowded room. My kids are trying to "guilt me " into getting rid of some of my stuff and can't understand why I need all this fabric . lol

deedum 11-24-2011 02:00 PM

Mine is a very organized mess! I am going to print off a pic or two and post in my sewing room. Then when someone says you got more material than you will ever use in a lifetime, I can say, "no, I am behind the others, I got to get busy and buy more materialhttp://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/238.gif

sewNso 11-24-2011 03:35 PM

I wish i had the stash you all had!!!. i put mine on boards. all right, soon, i'll show you. but i am in the basement, and it is not 'completely' finished. and not neat. i have boxes of nurses uniform supple scraps. and the carpet is all scraps. different here, and there. i'm cheap. guess, it wouldn't cost that much to have the same.

In mine or jaciqltznok 's room ? Sorry I have no idea of the names of most blocks. I just make what I like.

busygranny 11-24-2011 05:11 PM

Lordy--Lordy!!!! Heaven help us all. I would never get anything doen if I had that much fabric. Glad you can sew there and know where every thing is. I guess I am not normal.

SandyinZ4 11-24-2011 05:15 PM

I loved seeing the pics of your stashes. Mine is not quite that stacked but I have decided I really need to try and use some of it up before I buy too much more. I am not getting any younger and it is sort of a challenge...I keep telling myself! :-) But then when I start somehing, I never have just what I need to finish it. I am sure you all know what I mean.

Exactly my problem...Never have just the right pattern or color to finish a project.
But one of these days I will!

My husband makes NO Comment at all, My father told him to NEVER say anything about it! roflmao

Old hen 11-24-2011 07:59 PM

OMG........I would find it very hard to work in an area like that. I do have my sewing room somewhat organized, but every bit of my time spent organizing.... is lost sewing and quilting time. My room is in an area of my home that has to be walked through to get somewhere else, so at least need a pathway! To each his own, it's our space, enjoy it in whatever way you can!
