Pegboard Ruler Storage
2 Attachment(s)
We bought a new to us home last January and I was fortunate enough to get a very large room in our walk out basement. There are only 3 walls and 2 of them are covered with wonderful shelves perfect for my fabric storage so wall space is limited but I really needed something to store my rulers. I came up with the perfect solution. I have a cutting table that has storage underneath it and it sits in the middle of my room. I measured the back of the cutting table and headed to Home Depot. I had them cut me a piece of peg board that would fit on the back of my cutting table. I painted a Carpenter's Square on it and attached it to the cutting table. I bought a variety of hooks and baskets made specifically for peg boards. Now, my rulers are all together and easily accessible!

Love the different ideas on this board. This is great!

Very nice! The back of a sewing room door is another good spot for peg board. You can't use the baskets on the door but short hooks work great for rulers.
Well, that is so neat! Great job!

Very smart. I may have to steal that idea.
Luuuuuv! It
What a great solution.
great idea

I have had peg board in my quilting studio since the 90s. There is so much you can use it for to get organized. You did a great job storing your rulers!!
Love what you did. Maybe I will add it to my room.
Oh what a clever woman you are!
Love it. I am going to do that to my cutting board.
Love the quilt square painted on it. Puts my plain unpainted peg board to shame. I'd better get busy. Thanks for the great idea.
Great idea!

I really like your idea. My cutting table opens the opposite of yours and since I don't have any plans to move soon, I'll just leave it open all the time! Thanks for sharing.

In a few months I'm upgrading from a 7'x13' room to an about 15'x13' room, my plan is to have one whole wall have pegboard on it for hanging a little bit of everything, thanks for the idea of painting a block or blocks on it. I already have a very small pegboard in current room but it's on'y about 4'x4' so I'm really looking forward to the whole wall of pegboard. I had plans of keeping the small room for a sewing room too but hubby said he thinks he's use it for his music room. He has 5 guitars, an amplifier, a tall stool for sitting and a drum machine (very small). I guess I'll compromise & let him have 1/2 of the smaller room for his set up. Since it would only take up less than 1/2 of the small room. Only downfall is that I love to listen to him sing play his guitars while I sew on the other side of the wall :(, so there is another disagreement I can win by saying I'll miss hearing him sing & play. LOL I am very spoiled so I'm sure I'll will this disagreement. :)

Thank you for sharing this! Love the idea, and the painted quilt block! Added to my honey-do list! :)

Congrats on your new home and sewing area. The table looks great!
Thank you for the idea of attaching peg board to cutting table. I have been wanting a pegboard but I didn't want one on the wall using up that space. This would be perfect.
Nice storage..
Great Idea, I am going to try that with my sewing table. Thanks!!!!
Very clever! I never know where to put my ruler and I was reluctant to use wall space because I have so much fabric to put on shelves :o Thank you for sharing, I will use the side of my sewing desk and cutting table.
Super good idea! I, too may have to steal it:thumbup:

I love your idea and the painted Carpenter`s Star is just perfect!
You are the clever one! You've got something useful and extremely pretty!
love peg board

As I have just moved into my new room 18x30.
I have 2 old pattern cabinets for cutting table so I put 3M hooks up to hang them on. Works great so far |

Here is what my hubby came up with for rulers and other things that can be hung up. Its screwed into the wall where the studs are in the wall. I use the longer hooks and it works better than the shorter type. I've been using this since 1994.

Love what you did. I have peg boards on the wall and LOVE them - they are responsible for keeping so many things organized, handy and visible.
Great idea, so pretty too

Love what you did -- I used pegboard in my old house -- DSIL made frames behind the pegboard to make it easier to put the hooks in. I stored thread and scissors and patterns on the pegboard. When we move into our new home I am going to have conserve a lot of space since I won't have all the places to store my stash and tools -- this is a great idea for the rulers. Great job!!

What a fantastic idea! Love the placement, right on the cutting table.

I really like that you decorated it with the carpenters square motif! Clever!! I may have to borrow that!

Very nice! Great job! Thanks for sharing. Penny

I love this idea! I stuck some of those command hooks to the end of my sewing table but this is so much more versatile. I may remove those and try pegboard instead.
