Bouncy Table:

No more bouncy table! It looks like it would collapse, but it's in there nice & tight, and it's not going to move. Sa-weet! Now I can practice FMQ "full throttle" :)

Great solution. Now my DH would have duct taped it all together LOL!

quiltinghere 04-28-2013 04:41 AM

Hahaha~ Awesome!!! whatever it takes to quilt, right? Luv it!

Nan

sew_Tracy 04-28-2013 04:42 AM

Okay let me get this straight, if you are innovative and thrifty you might be a redneck? :D!!!

wolph33 04-28-2013 05:06 AM

lol, redneck or not that is a great thrifty idea.

Caroline S 04-28-2013 05:15 AM

Great fix! I have the same tables, the plastic box and the wood! It never occurred to me that I could fix the bounce and vibration like you did.

Tartan 04-28-2013 05:16 AM

Whatever works.

lauriejo 04-28-2013 05:27 AM

Love solutions that use what you have, means more money for fabric!

ube quilting 04-28-2013 05:44 AM

Brilliant! Quilters are so creative.
peace

Country1 04-28-2013 06:27 AM

Hope it works! Please becareful that it doesn't fall on you/or your legs! I have laminate floors, so I don't know if the carpet was the problem for you. My DH cut a piece of plywood the size of my table, used the router around the the edges & sanded it ( no splinters)! Mine was trying to sag in the middle, forget using a cutting mat on it, and my machines would dance all over it. When I used my serger, well let's just say "game on."
If yours doesn't work here's a back up plan!
Good Luck!

What ever works!!!!!

mamajack3 04-28-2013 10:23 AM

HAHAHA glad to know I am not the only one to do this kind of thing. Was wondering though how in the world did you manage without duct tape and velcro?

SewFarBehind 04-28-2013 11:14 AM

Necessity is the mother of invention. I love it!

debbiemarie 04-28-2013 11:24 AM

Just an idea, but you could glue all those wood pieces together under the table, if you think they might fall, I say good job solving a problem! I love those good 'ole homemade problem solvers, they don't cost a penny.

alikat110 04-28-2013 06:21 PM

You might be a redneck if......

I love it!!!!

That sure looks like something that I would do too. lol I am a great improviser and yes, duck tape fixes a lot of stuff.

Grandma Peg 04-28-2013 07:12 PM

Glad you found something that works for you. Go girl with your quilting.

tessagin 04-29-2013 06:04 AM

Whatever works for you is what counts!

Michellesews 04-29-2013 06:09 AM

I recently attended a quilt retreat and one very smart lady brought along bed risers which can be purchased at Walmart. She put them under the legs of the fold away table used for cutting...and it was the PERFECT HEIGHT! Just wanted to pass this along.

Mommomjoann 04-29-2013 06:25 AM

Great solution! I would call it the " Jango " table.

Caswews 04-29-2013 06:30 AM

Absolutely love it .. DH would of glue, nailed it all together (he might of even of used Duct Tape as well !LOL) Great solution ..

absolutely! i am a big proponent for use of duct tape in everything! but it also needs a bit of color... a little bright red duct tape. maybe a touch of yellow here and there?

Lori S 04-29-2013 09:27 AM

I love it! Just another great use for milk crates and scrap lumber. I was thinking of having some 4 inch PVC cut to the length of the distance from the floor to the underside of the table... but your solution is more immediate.

I was expecting to see duct tape - I know that is what my hubby would use

newbee3 04-29-2013 09:57 AM

that really does not look very safe

How so? I've been under there, and put some good pressure on it, and it's super-tight...it's really not going anywhere, even if I kick it. The weight of the table plus the weight of the machine makes it really tight, and the blocks are very straight...not crooked at all (I had a lot of practice with alphabet blocks when I was a kid...could get them stacked really high before they toppled over :) )

That's what I was going to say: My very own Jenga puzzle! (Is Jango another puzzle like Jenga?)

DonnaC 04-29-2013 11:00 AM

Now you just need to sew a pretty cover for your makeshift table leg... a quilted cover, of course!! LOL

KLTQuilts 04-29-2013 11:42 AM

Never, never underestimate the power of a woman on a "mission". . . . she'll win every time!!!! :D

Carol34446 04-29-2013 02:40 PM

If hubby has a drill press, I would have him drill holes in each peice of wood except bottem and top, run a dowel through it (wood or metal) and them glue top and bottom to ones below and above it and that would make it more sturdy.

Pat G 04-29-2013 03:14 PM

Hey, this isn't just a redneck solution. It's the way my husb. used to fix most things.

Gannyrosie 04-29-2013 06:20 PM

lol, I'm in stitches. Coon Ass's do this too.

bluteddi 04-29-2013 06:28 PM

what would I do with all the stuff I store UNDER my table???

wordpaintervs 04-29-2013 07:37 PM

GOOD ONE TEELER. cracked me up. Thanks for the laughter

Creative minds come up with creative solutions!

ghquilter53 04-30-2013 04:05 AM

I agaree with JanRN....just needs duct tape to make official Redneck quality.

lovecreating 04-30-2013 04:41 AM

TEELER you are so witty. This post has been fun. Some chuckles for the morning. And all the duct tape suggestions. Joannes has printed duct tape, in all sorts of designs so you could really make it special. when there is a will there is a way!!! Nothing is stopping you!!

girliegirl 04-30-2013 04:55 AM

You are a redneck and you have to be from my neck of the woods!
