Your closet looks amazing! You will get many hours of pleasure out of making quilts. Enjoy your retirement.

My thoughts too. After many years of working in which I'm assuming you contributed to the household I would think you would have a say in how to use "your" (not just "his") space.
Your organization looks fantastic. If only I could get so neat.

Absolutely. It always astonishes me, that women have to seek permission to use a room of the home that they have made a huge contribution to, as a space for a sewing/craft or whatever they feel like doing, on retirement.

My comment makes 3 of this type..what do you mean the husband doesn't want one of two spare rooms made into your sewing room? Have you put any money/time/resources into the house? Don't you think you deserve to have a sewing room, not a closet? And who died and made him the boss of you? Ha!

Your fabric looks fantastic! When we moved into our home ten years ago, I took the smallest bedroom as my sewing room, and now I have a long arm in the family room on our walkout level too. DH knows very well the extent of my passion! Enjoy your retirement.

My husband does, too! When we bought this big fixer upper house at a bargain price, he suggested that I take the 2 upstairs bedrooms on the front for my sewing. I think he figured that way it wouldn't be all over the house like when we were in the townhouse :D

Thanks for the link to the storage cubes. I'm going to keep them in mind. Your stash looks so well organized - how long do you think it will stay that way? I find that I have to keep re-organizing as I pull fabrics and put them back. But it's fun petting the fabric. Have fun in retirement.

Congratulations, you are very well organised. I too have fabric waiting for retirement which I sincerely hope is next year.

I'm sorry, but I feel the need to add my two cents, too. You have been cooking, cleaning, laundering in this home AND working outside the home for all these years and he doesn't want you to make an unused bedroom your quilt space for your obvious passion for our craft? Does he have a garage? Mancave? Basement? Workshop? This man would be getting not only a piece of my mind, but a good kick in his rear end! Dear lady, tell him you are making, taking and using one of those extra rooms for your guilty, quilty pleasure!
