Sewing room redo

6 Attachment(s)
I wanted to separate my sewing and my computing areas in my room. Previously they shared and L-shaped desk. Also to lower the height of my sewing machine table to ease the strain in my shoulders.

My son suggested we go to IKEA. bought two tables. He and my grandson put the tables together. Then my son cut the hole for my machine in one table; put a shelf under it to hold my sewing machine. He put casters on the other table to raise it for cutting. Now they sit so the cutting table can hold a quilt when it is on the machine. And it can be rolled out for moving around when cutting.

I'm so happy.

Didn't you post this 'redo' 2 days ago? Or is the QB duplicating your post?

It was on a Fons and Porter show--still on their website. #1613 I think. They had it in big red flowers and the pattern got lost. It isn't had but do measure carefully when you make the template and do a sample. I didn't do either and my points are very bad. bought the horse fabric from a board member. Marbeth

I may have, I posted it on Facebook. I'm really proud of the job they did for me. I should add that Walt put the floor down for my birthday last year. It's first life was to be the floor in peanut factory. Then his bedroom floor. He thought I needed it and took it up from his house and brought it to me. Took the carpet out of this room and put it into his bedroom. It is hundre year old heart pine.

That looks wonderful .They did great job.Happy sewing

MaryAnnMc 11-14-2011 05:33 AM

Oho, that is very clever! I see he drilled a hole for your knee lift. I'll have to remember that one. Ikea is such a great place for affordable furniture, and you sure put these pieces to good use. Now, if Ikea was smart, they would start offering sewing tables.

Enjoy your new room!

MaryAnnMc 11-14-2011 05:34 AM

Oh, I wanted to comment on the paintings. They are lovely!! I like the clothesline especially. Did you paint them yourself?

Judith1005 11-14-2011 05:37 AM

wow, that's fantastic. you are deff blessed to have someone who has the skill and talent to do that for you. Enjoy. :)

gigi10 11-14-2011 05:41 AM

Great son. I love your new sewing set-up. Looks like it makes it easy for you to get to now. Think I might need to show it to my dh. Thanks for sharing.
