I like white, as it doesn't take away from fabric color.

Thank you to all who took the time to respond. I've got some research to do at the paint store, for sure but it will be fun.

I say go with the color you like. It's your room, after all. Congratulations on your room overhaul.

Most paints have a reflectivity percentage listed. I was surprised to find that other colors can reflect more light than white. I used a Behr paint call Havana Cream. It is a pale yellow that really reflects light! My MIL was a "die hard" stark white fan until she saw my walls. Even my hubby, who hates yellow, loves the color. It is soft and soothing and makes the room seem as if it it filled with sunshine!
I'm sure other pale colors will reflect as much, or more than white. Just ask the "paint guy or gal" at the store.

If its a dark room I'd go with a nice warm yellow to brighten it up. If you choose white, I'd stay away from the gray tones and go with one that has a nice undertone of yellow in it. My entire house is painted with Filoli Antique White (but its a nice warm beige) and my quilt room has white shelves, white ceiling and trim and white cabinetry with wood floor and drapes for large window are in beige pattern. Love it.

I used 3 colors in my sewing room which has a half vaulted ceiling. I used Sage, on the upper third of the walls and ceiling, Sea Foam on the rest of the walls, and then I put a dark 6" green stripe around the entire room. I painted my cabinets Sage with dark green doors. My hubby put lots of lighting in and we used daylight bulbs for the lighting. Love my sewing room!

A soft white or ivory is always good ... but if you want a bit of color ... I redid mine in a creamy, buttery SOFT yellow ... and I love it ! Valspar Creme Brulee from Lowe's

That was interesting about the reflectivity of different colors.

I also thought that a high gloss paint would reflect more light than a matte/eggshell finish.

Learn and live!

Mine is light yellow. It doesn't distract from colors on my design wall and it gives a nice lift instead of white - which I'd always had. Pick what you feel good about.
