I really understand this! I will have lived in my house 40 years this August and have started the process of packing, purging, etc., in anticipation of moving in the next year. So many memories, so much "stuff", so exhausting. I pack some, donate some, throw some, cry some. It is hard to be doing this but am moving to be closer to relatives as I age. I am looking at it as an adventure though and have already scouted out 3 great quilt stores in the New Braunfels, TX, area. So life will be good!

Sounds like a grand adventure- and a goal to help stay motivated when you hit a bumpy spot in the process.

Last night I had ‘down time’ as I was hanging out with 2 great nieces. They decided to make their own supper and just watch TV so I sorted through a box of donations. I bagged blocks/squares that were similar in size and wrote a note about the size and if they needed trimming. Some of the blocks may just get cut down a size with my die cutter. It’s so much easier than trimming each block individually.

I was happy to find around 20 strip blocks finished. I do need to give them a quick press and then trim them square. There were also extra strips so I just bagged them together with the blocks. I finished sorting the box this morning and put everything in appropriate spots.

Thanks, Rob. I am working on it.

I'm jumping on the wagon with you.

I cleaned out a lateral file drawer today. All papers are now filed and labeled in folders. Lots of shredding and tossing old papers. The lateral file is in my sewing room so I'm going to count that as organizing. Feels so good.

Welcome aboard, Rhonda! Cleaning that file drawer is an accomplishment and now it won't be bugging you when you are sewing. :)

Yesterday my younger daughter came over (it was her birthday) & she & I went through drawers & bins in my craft room. My fabric & cutting table are in there, plus all the scrapbooks I’ve made & items for that craft. She took some items & we decided on donations to Creative Reuse, a local store that recycles craft items. We haven’t been there yet but plan to go sometime. So I’ve let go of stuff I won’t use & gotten some room in my space.

as an offshoot of Mimi's thread about saved printed out patterns etc,
I put on my big girl panties and saved my enormous folder of "quilty ideas" to a flash drive.
All ideas that fill my own well with ideas.

I'm chuffed. and it was easy :)
pinterest hits all my hot buttons is why I don't save stuff there.

Another late comer here. June has gone by in a flash at my house and I didn't get a thing done, but now am ready to get back to sewing. I had to clean off my cutting board top...everyone kept piling things on it. Since I declared 2018 the year of the triangle, I pulled out some waste HST's have gotten a start on a new quilt. Now off to work.

Took the weekend to get some sewing done but yesterday was back at "the room". Was tidying up from sewing strings and pulling a few more neutrals out for the project WHEN I opened a tote I had sitting right beside the sewing table. Inside was washed, new fabric from almost six months ago. Folded (ruler folded or FQ folded) and put away almost all of that. Then more put aways from another project and getting cut scraps into their places. My new challenge is the stash of books. I don't have a ton but enough to keep anyone quilting 7 days a week for years. Some I will never do so it is time to let them go or put on Bucket To Do List. It is fun to see how others challenge the organization of this hobby's tools, fabric and everything that goes with it.

Since we are in the process of redoing my multi-purpose sewing room/space bedroom I needed to take everything out of the closet in order to paint and lay new flooring. I couldn't believe what a massive amount of bits and pieces of batting I had stuffed into the closet. I'm sure I had the a reason for keeping the stuff but that reason escapes me now. I loaded up 2 large trash bags and since our trash is picked up on Friday I quickly put it out and didn't have time to for any second thoughts. From now on I'm only going to clean out spaces on FRIDAYs.
