Where I sew
5 Attachment(s)
I go through phases of sewing, mainly because I'm such a messy mare, that I don't have the space to do so. But given that I've invested some semi-serious cash on a new sewing machine (Viking Husqvarna 875Q) and I've had it 2 weeks and not been able to do anything with it due to lack of space I considered it high time I finally cleaned up enough to be able to use it.
I'm hoping to be able to attach some photos for you to be able to see, but if it doesn't work, they are on my blog The before photos were taken in January and it's been an uphill battle since then to get it how it is now And here's the machine |
You definitely need to get busy on your 875Q. I have one and love it! BTW, your sewing area looks a lot like mine. :)

Great job on the reorg! Nothing like a new baby to motivate us.

But I am loving her. |
Huge progress! How does it feel?
You did a good job on reorganizing. Love your new baby.
I bet you feel so much better about your sewing space now. It looks great!
Nice re-organization. Now, go have fun. :) Or at least when you can....:)
WOW great Job !!!
The before pics were scary  !!!! |
Nice job--what a pleasant place now!!
You did a wonderful job!!! Everything looks great!!! Enjoy your new machine!!!!!!
Wow you really made that room shine, and now you can enjoy that gorgeous machine, thanks for sharing your progress
with use, I love your sewing room. |
Thank you for your comments - it is a constant struggle, and if any of you have every suffered with depression, or know people who do, just the thought of having to stay on top of it is enough to make you cry, particularly when the rest of the house is in a similar state.
and as for the garden ............ lol But today, which is the first of 2 bank holidays in the UK, might be dedicated to sewing. After all I deserve it. |
Loved the pics. ESP the before. That's how I love to work!? I did think I could pop over the Pontypool road and give you a hand, but I am too late! Good job on the sort out. Did you actually throw anything out or just file it away? I tend not to throw, you never know when you may need that 2" square of bright orange lol. X
And you just know I have that 2" square in every colour under the sun.
Wow! You sure did a good tidy-up. Adore the machine! Have loads of fun with it.
Great job on your space. I find I sew better when my room is picked up and organized. It needs a little bit of that right now.
Great job, I am in the process now...would rather sew .but ... It does feel good to sew in a clean ot once in awhile!
Hey! You are inspiration to me! Thanks for showing the pictures.
Good job! Congrats on all of your hard work!

I also have an 875Q and I LOVE IT, And my sewing room looks alot like yours. My husband can't understand why creative people are so messy.
You have to feel so much better being organized and able to get at your new Baby!! You may need to keep reminding yourself that if it gets that way again, you will once again be away from her.
great job cleaning up. now your trick is going to be maintaining it while still doing some sewing. i can relate to the mess. i travel for work and have found that the once a week blitz i do in my hotel room translates well to keeping sewing area at home usable as well.
You've done a very good job of cleaning up your space... congratulations! Hope the new machine makes you happy too!
Nice machine! Great job cleaning up the room, now, please come clean mine.
Wow - you,ve been one busy girl!
You did an awesome job!! I love when organization hits.
Wonderful job of organizing!! Good luck.
It looks wonderful. Have a grand time sewing on your new machine and your clean space!
Congratulations on a job well done. I understand how hard it can be to get on top of things when suffering with depression. Maybe having the "after" photos blown up bigger and put near the door might help. Even if you only manage to put one thing away today it's a start. It will be nice for you to sit at your new machine in your "like new" sewing room.
I wish you happy quilting but also future wellness. All the best wishes from one who has been there. |
Wow, can I come to play? Love your sewing room! Happy creativity!
Nice job and nice machine. Enjoy both!
Wonderful job! You have certainly earned your play time!
Enjoy!! |
Your room is now beautiful .... and functional! Congratulations! I was wondering about the chair with hand quilting frame in front of the window. Is the hand quilting frame part of the chair? or does it just look that way. Nice place to hand quilt with lots of light from the window. Love your new sewing machine too ... have fun with that.
I have the same machine too...love it.....now you can enjoy yours
Happy stitching on your new machine. Room looks great.
I have the same machine and love it. Make sure you invest in the walking foot with the two attachments that clip on, a 1/4" foot and I also got the stitch in the ditch foot. Makes putting on binding with the walking foot a breeze
Looks a lot like my sewing room before I got the organization bug. It is so nice to have a peaceful room to go to and do whatever makes you happy. That new machine would sure make me happy. Love the room.
Hi Georgiegirl2012,
I have the 875Q, you need to get some time to learn to use your machine. I love mine! Your sewing room looks great! Good job! My sewing area is smaller than yours, its an uphill battle to keep it organized. I really like all that throat space when I'm quilting. Sharon W. |
Wonderful job you did on organizing. I like your space!!
