My husband did it for me, although I painted the legs and polyurathan-ed the top (putting on about 8 coats to make it very smooth)!

I made this with the Ikea Melltorp table. It is 49 x 30. I am not good with power tools so the rectangle is not straight but it still works. I cut an old shelf board and some 1 x 4 to make the shelf and connected it to the bottom of the table with L brackets. Then I bought a piece of plexiglass and cut it with a jigsaw and sanded the edges.
