The Gateway Regional Arts Center in Mount Sterling, KY is holding its Annual Quilt Exhibition in March to coincide with National Quilt Month. We are pleased to announce that Internationally renown Quilt and Fiber Artist Arturo Alonzo Sandoval, is this year's Juror. There will be a Best of Show Award and two Honorable Mentions. Cash prizes are determined by the amount of Entries. Don't miss the opportunity to have your quilt featured in this prestigious show at the Gateway Regional Arts Center! Quilt Exhibition 2011
“The Four Seasons”
Deadline: Feb. 19, 2011
Theme: The Four Seasons: A exhibition featuring quilts that celebrate the Four Seasons in whatever context is relevant to the Quilter. For example the Seasons of the Year, Your Life, Parenthood, Marriage, A Career or anything else you can imagine.
Juror: Arturo Alonzo Sandoval
Arturo Alonzo Sandoval is a fiber artist whose experimental techniques and expressive interpretations have earned him an international reputation. A Professor of Art at the University of Kentucky Arturo has earned the respect of his students and the admiration of Lexington, his home town, and its art community.
Arturo is one of Kentucky's most original, influential and significant artists. Because he creates an extensive collection of work his artwork is everywhere. His work is in the collections of the New York City Museum of Modern Art's Architecture and Design Collection, as well as galleries and private collections throughout the United States and the world.
Arturo is frequently featured in national journals, periodicals and books, and the topic of local television last year. Arturo celebrated twenty five years as an artist and educator with retrospective exhibition throughout Lexington and eight consecutive exhibits the spring of 1998.
