I'll be visiting Columbus for the first time next month for a conference at the Ohio State University and would appreciate ideas for where to shop for quilting supplies in and around the city and the area. Any advice for other "must see" places is also welcome!
Thanks so much,
Bonita1

Hi Bonita, there are some nice quilt shops here.
A few:
The Glass Thimble
Quilt Beginnings (2 locations)
Red Rooster Quilts

A trip to Amish country would be fabulous for you!!! Lovely shops and beautiful country!!It's about 90 miles east of Columbus. Not sure if that's something you'd want to do.

I would do a Google search on other shops.

Thanks to you both for the advice. I would love to go to Zinck's, too, but it may be just too far for the free time available. We'll see!

Hi Bonita. The Glass Thimble is the closest quilt shop to the University area. It's on N. High Street. Quilt Beginnings has two locations, one on E. Broad Street and one on Sawmill Road (northwest of Columbus). Quilt Trends is also a very good place to go and it's on Huntley Rd.

Will you have a car to get to these places? If not, I may be able to pick you up and show you around. I don't live too far from the University.

Glass Thimble is just 2 miles north of OSU at corner of High Street and East North Broadway. Turn at Oakland Park (one block north) and go down the alley drive to park at the back of the building which is the "front door"

Hi there!
All of the shops mentioned are great! This shop has a lot of modern fabrics and organic fabrics. It's so cute:

Also, you must go to the Short North district and shop {and nosh}. It's right up High Street from campus. The conservatory is amazing - it's near the airport which isn't terribly far from campus. And if it's sunny and nice, you must go to the Oval on campus and people watch!

Have a great trip!

If you travel to Holmes County, Millers Dry Goods is a fun place to shop for quilting materials. Actually, there are two shops there in Charm, Ohio. A visit to both will cheer you!

To bad you aren't coming in June for NQA. Now what type of quilting do you do? Some shops specialize in different styles. Do you have access to a car? And how much time do you have to shop? Do you have a long arm, what type? This will dictate where to send you. We are formate to have many wonderful shops.

Thank you to all who have replied. I appreciate the information so very much. Different conference-- not the Greyhound rescue, by the way.
And Janet, the offer to pick me up is wonderful! I'd love to meet you, but because we are unsure of how the free time will go, it would be really difficult to do that. :(

Again, thanks so much to the great fellow quilters here onthe QMB,

Bonnie
