Hello Everyone,
I am a newbie to the quilting world. I just found out about the show in Houston. I am in NY and a want to go. Is this show worth while for a newbie or will I be overwhelmed.
Thanks for the input.

I went last year and of course you'll be over whelmed, there will be quilts there that will leave you speechless, but the VENDORS for a newbie, are awesome you get to see everything thats available and a lot of vendors let you try them out, they will show you ways to organize your sewing area no matter how big or how small. So YES if you can come in for it, it is worth it, and if you can't keep your eyes open for one in your area.
this site lists a couple of others

Overwhelmed? Of course!

A bus load of ladies is leaving from Mississippi Wednesday morning in order to arrive there in time for preview night. We are staying at Four Points by Sheraton Houston Southwest, 2828 Southwest Freeway, Houston 77098. We've had our rooms for months; I don't know what you could find at this late date.

All our arrangements were through Robin Beard at Ropakele Travel -- 225-766-7132.

Just how many attendees do you think are going to ask you what that stands for? I can just hear them now, "Are you a quarterback?"

Hi quiltingmimipj,
Thanks for the feedback. I am soooo excited....
I was able to get a room at one of the host hotels the Doubletree. I would be flying down early Friday morning and leaving on Sunday. Now I am working on my airfare.

Believe me, compared to some of the weird things that some groups wear, that is nothing.

I found some awesome Houston fabric and made monogrammed tote bags with it for all 5 of us in our group. I'll try and post a picture of them once I get the last one, mine, finished tomorrow. I'm tall and brunette with a black orthodic boot on my left foot. If you see me stop and say hi. I'm certain I'll be the one standing there with my mouth open overwhelmed.
