Any good quilt shops in the area? I'll be there for a week and while my husband is busy working all day, I'll be free to explore. Ain't retirement grand?

Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill is worth the drive if you have easy access to a car. I haven't explored the Raleigh quilt shops yet.

Cheers, K

My favorite quilt shop in Raleigh is Wish Upon A Quilt. Bernina World of Sewing is also great. Sew Unique is good. I understand they have recently changed from garment oriented fabric to more 100% cotton for quilting. I haven't been there since the change though. Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill has already been mentioned, but I would second that recommendation. They're great. There's also a great quilt shop in Wake Forest, NC. I believe the name is Quilt Like Crazy, but I'm not sure. There are also shops in Apex, Carrboro, and Cary. These are all considered to be in the Raleigh area. Enjoy!

How far is Gastonia, NC from where you will be? There is a Mary Jo's in Gastonia, just off the interstate. Just a little ways from Charlotte, NC. I live in VA, but do take a day trip to Mary Jo's. Lots of fabric, good quality, AND very reasonable priced. Also I believe Long Creek thread is in Gastonia. Lots of thread for anything you want to do.

Mary Jo's is at least 3 hours from me, so would be around 4 to 4.5 from Raleigh.

Thanks for letting me know the distance. I live in VA and usually go to Mary Jo's from Greensboro. Just a thought.
Thanks,
B
