Maybe you could teach one of your friends, get her going on quilting and walla, then you have a quilting buddy. I got two of my buddies sewing quilts, which they didn't really seem interested in, but it happened.

I live in Portland too... just the one on the left coast. ;)

I did however flex my Google-fu and came up with a guild close to you. Maybe if you went to some meetings you could make a new friend or two that would be more then happy to have some quilty afternoons with you.

Cobblestone Quilters: Portland area
Contact: Jill Fox
North Deering Alliance Church, 1301 Washington Ave., Portland 2nd & 4th Monday @ 6:30 pm

Casco Bay Quilters: Scarborough/South Portland area Contact: Dawn Quinn
Bessey Commons, 272 Route 1, Scarborough

Here's a bit more about it, hope you can find someone! :-D
Pine Tree Quilters Guild, Inc. (PTQG) is Maine's statewide quilting guild with over 2,000 members, including 74 chapters divided into 7 geographic areas. Chapter activities are one of the best ways you can enjoy quilting, share and expand your quilting skills, and make some great new friends. If you are interested in joining a chapter that doesn't have contact information listed, please contact us for their information at our address above or e-mail Susan Gerhardt.

Have you wonderered about joining a chapter? One group describes their meetings, "...as we sit around our meeting room and work on our projects, we love to have good conversation...we laugh, cry, and talk about anything and everything...come visit - you'll be surprised where some of our conversations lead..."

Join today! You can belong as a Chapter member, as an Affiliate member (belonging to one or more chapters in addition to a "home" chapter) or as a Floater member (an individual membership). For more informantion, please contact Membership Registrar, Susan Gerhardt

If you plan to visit a chapter, please confirm the meeting date and time.
