Is anyone going to the Lancaster, PA Quilt Show which is bring held March 16-19th ? I went last year for the first time and thought it was really great.

LeonMom 03-02-2011 09:17 PM

I am!

I am also brand new to this board and this is my first post. :)

sweet 03-03-2011 05:34 AM

Good for you folks to be able to go! I bet it will be great. And Welcome LeonMom!

LeonMom 03-03-2011 06:09 AM

Thanks for the welcome.

I didn't go last year to AQS but went to the QHC for many years. Should be a good time!

Happy Treadler 03-04-2011 05:30 AM

I'm HOPING to go. Thinking about maybe Thursday to dodge the crowds. Think all the vendors would still be there that day? It would actually be my very FIRST quilt show!!

jdeery 03-04-2011 05:48 AM

I too am hoping to go, I went last year and never got past
the one floor, this year hope to spend all day there? What
a great show!

LeonMom 03-04-2011 05:50 AM

I can't imagine the vendors leaving the show early. My plan is to be there on Thursday, all day. I'm debating about staying overnight so that I have Friday too. Haven't decided upon that yet.

Arleners 03-04-2011 05:55 AM

I am taking a bus that was hired through a nearby quilting guild. I went last year as well and had a great time. Can't wait.

Grammiesews 03-04-2011 06:41 AM

I am going on Wednesdy & Thursday and taking classes. I can't wait!!!! It will be my first big quilt show.

Happy Treadler 03-04-2011 06:46 AM

Since I've never been to a quilt show, what can I expect? I have no clue. They actually have classes?

amorerm 03-04-2011 06:56 AM

I'm from Lancaster. You won't be disappointed with the show. Here's their website that will answer all your questions.

Maybe we should put a label on one of the tables where you eat, quiltingboard people stop here! Wouldn't that be fun!

jdeery 03-04-2011 09:18 AM

They have classes you can sign up for ahead of time, and they
have just some you can just sit in on demonstrations, wear
comfortable shoes, it is a lot of walking. It is almost overwheming, fabric, notions, demo's quilts everywhere, you will love it.

Grammiesews 03-04-2011 10:17 AM

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!
Thanks for the hint on the confortable shoes.

goaf1968 03-04-2011 07:26 PM

Hi Terry,

I'm just south of the canal, Middletown area. I haven't decided whether I'm going to drive up for just the day or stay overnight and spend 2 days at the show.

ragamuffin 03-04-2011 08:25 PM

I plan to go too if I don't have to stay with my friend while her hubby is operated on. She was in a car wreck and has a crushed ankle, broken ribs and a broken arm. Arm is coming along good. Her hubby has cancer of the p---- and this is his third operation, this time at a different hospital and doctors. He is very very nervous about this, jokes a lot about it though. Hopes he has good looking nurses holding it. I am from DE too, Pike Creek Valley in Wilm. Hope to see you all there.

Welcome, LeonMom, from just across the border in Kennett Square.

You'll love the quilt show! It can be overwhelming, though. You may want to take a look at the information and decide on one or 2 areas to concentrate on. Really not possible to take it all in if you are there for one day.

goaf1968 03-05-2011 01:46 PM

I'm just North of the C&D - right at the very end of Bear (896 and Porter Road). We are going to AQS on the 17th. I think we will skip the part of the first floor as that's where all the mega-thousands of dollars long arm quilting machines are. I believe there were about 6 floors of dealers, and it is correct you cannot see all of it in one day. If you try you will just end up on a walk-a-than to see how fast you can get through all the floors! It is easier to pick out what you really want to see, and see them first. Then, if there is time left for you, go back and add some things in. It's pretty easy to do this with a directory in-hand.

My daughter and I are hoping to go on Friday.

I will be there on Friday.

susie0808 03-09-2011 04:52 PM

I am going on Saturday. CreativeSheila has mentioned everyone getting together before the shows for some coffee. How about everyone wear a ribbon on their bag so we can spot each other? Looking forward to meeting alot of you!

Sue

Cheryl 03-12-2011 10:36 AM

That would be too cool, it would really be nice to meet whoever is going the same day as some of us. I'm going on Wed.

Magzwv 03-14-2011 04:09 AM

Hi LeonMom! My best friend has a Leon too! They are the best dogs! I'm going to Lancaster on Wed for a class, then my BFF and I are coming back up thursday night to spend friday and saturday there! I can't wait!! If you want to try to meet up, let me know!

Magzwv 03-14-2011 04:11 AM

Great idea! What color ribbon??

jdeery 03-14-2011 09:03 AM

What kind of ribbon? Let's do it!

Grammiesews 03-14-2011 09:08 AM

I though someone in a previous thread said a red ribbon.

Yes! I'm going up alone --- my quilting friend who usually goes didn't enjoy the show last year :(. She went into the area last week and shopped for fabric instead. I'm going up on Thursday, packing a bag so that if I feel like staying over I can. Do you think you could scope out a meeting spot when you are there on Wed and let us know? Then we could meet there on Fri morning--or I can let you know that I didn't stay over too.

And yes, Leonbergers are THE best dog. I've owned GS, GD, mutts, and by far this is the best breed, if you don't mind hair. Love my Leaning-berger.

Mountainquilter 03-14-2011 12:11 PM

I'm going out on a limb here, just for fun. I'm thinking that she is your wife other days of the week too, not just on Friday. :)

Hope you have a great time at the show.

I will make sure my wife puts a red ribbon on, and I'll tell her if someone stops and asks if she is on the quilting board she will know about it. We will be there sometime Friday morning.

Magzwv 03-15-2011 04:18 AM

I'll have my ribbon tied around my purse. I'm in a class friday morning, but will be roaming around all day after that, most likely playing with a longarm!!! I hope to meet up with some of you! Have a safe trip and have a blast at the show!!

jdeery 03-15-2011 06:14 AM

Okay Girls: RED RIBBON IT IS!

goaf1968 03-15-2011 10:25 AM

Hold on, I'll check with her .......

Yep, she is my wife the other six days, too, as she has been for almost 24 years, now. It was this week 24 years ago I first met her. Six weeks later I asked her to marry me. Guess she liked what she saw, too! :-) She has this thing she does every now and then. She asks me if I still love her and will I keep her for another two weeks? It is always a resounding YES!

Gee, that's sweet!! Happy Anniversary :-)

Martha Hamman 03-22-2011 07:34 AM

My daughter and I went on Friday. This was our first quilt show and we thought it was great. Lots of beautiful quilts. Alot of art quilts. Amazing.
Good vendors and it was a beautiful day. We'll do it again next year, if the weather is fit.(It's a 200+mile trip)

We crossed the road with a lady from Ohio and she had been there since Thurs. She said it was a good show. She also mentioned the show in De Moines and said that it's the very best.
