Hi, everyone, there's going to be a wonderful quilt show in Archbold, Ohio at Sauder's Village and KayT, Matilda, and I would like to invite one and all to a Meet and Greet at The Barn Restaurant on April 27th. We had such a wonderful time at the Meet and Greet in Shipshewana last fall that we couldn't resist doing something similar in Archbold.

We have reserved a room at The Barn at 1:00 April 27th for a buffet lunch. The quilt show is on the same property and so is the Sauder's Village and Quilt Shop. It's definitely a one-stop fun day! You can tour the Village for a fee or skip the Village and shop at the Village Quilt Shop which is fabulous for variety in fabrics, notions, books and just about anything a quilter would enjoy browsing

For the sake of simplicity we can meet in front of Founders Hall at the quilt show in the lobby at 9:30 or whenever works out for you. We will be sure someone is waiting for you. Later we can shop then meet at The Barn Restaurant for lunch, show and tell, a few fun games, and plenty of visiting with other quilters. Please wear a name tag to identify yourself and be creative with it! Here are some informational links for you to browse to give you an idea of what Sauders has to offer.

We are going - but on the 28th, it's the only day I could get off! I've been to the show the last 2 years, and it's an absolutely wonderful show, highlyr recommend it. Love it there. The shop is good too!

Melody 03-01-2011 04:19 AM

Dandish, I'm so sorry you can't join us! It is a great show, isn't it. And the entire Sauders Village has so much... my personal favorite (besides the quilt show and the quilt shop) is that bakery! yummmmmm But you have to shop early if you want to be sure to get anything.

I would love to be there, but we are going to Paducah!!!!
I'm so anxious for that but otherwise, I would have made it to Sauder Village and camped!

Melody 03-01-2011 05:14 AM

Have a great time in Paducah! Sometime I hope to go to that one, too. :D

Melody 03-01-2011 05:39 AM

Oh my goodness, I just realized that I left something out of the information....please feel free to bring a friend. I am bringing a friend who is not a member of QB but is interested in going to the quilt show and lunch with us.

crafty116 03-01-2011 10:23 AM

had so much fun at shipshewana fall meet and greet need to do this also

Melody 03-01-2011 10:50 AM

I'm so glad you're going to join us.

Boy, I'll tell you after a winter like this one, I am sooo ready for this also. The only good thing about winter this year was the time spent quilting.

Come on Spring!

Melody

Melody 03-01-2011 04:35 PM

I have received several PM's saying YES they would like to join us! woohoo!! It's going to be a great time. I will post the list as soon as I figure how to do that... hmmmmm.

Melody 03-02-2011 05:26 PM

It's only been a few days since I posted this and already we have 13 signed up! I am contacting the local quilt shops for freebies and goodies... always a nice bonus for a meet and greet.

We have the Granary reserved and it seats 30. And it actually is the granary in this old restored barn! The atmostphere at this place is wonderful. If you've been there, then you know what I mean.

If you're wondering how far away you are from the quilt show and our get together, here is a very good link for map and directions. If you are in Northwest Ohio, it's in your backyard! If you are in Northeast Indiana, you're very close. If you're north of the Michigan/Ohio border, you're closer than you think. Adrian is only 30 to 45 minutes away.

KayT 03-03-2011 01:59 PM

I am excited about this meet and greet. I had so much fun at the October 2010 Shipshewanna meet and greet. I can't wait, and hope many will be joining us.

RugosaB 03-04-2011 02:45 PM

How wonderful that you all are going to meet up at the show. I have to rely on hubby to go with me, and due to his work, we have the 29th planned, so I won't be able to join you (I'm about 45 min away) That show has kind of become our quilt show 'date.' He just sits in the row of chairs they have for husbands, and usually finds someone to talk to. In fact last year, as he was looking around, he even got into a quilting discussion with some ladies that kind of felt sorry for him lol
(if anyone goes on Friday and sees a guy who probably won't take off his USS Ronald Reagan hat, and he looks like he needs someone to feel sorry for him, he's yours!

Melody 03-04-2011 02:53 PM

Oh so close! We will miss you. Maybe we can meet another time. You aren't far from me.... I grew up in Northwood.

Melody :D

RugosaB 03-04-2011 07:12 PM

OMG, I just have to go down the road what, 3-4 miles, amd I'm in Northwood! I live 1/2 mile down the road from where I grew up, so this area is vary familiar

KayT 03-07-2011 06:01 AM

I am so please to hear so many people enjoy this show. I think it will be great to meet so many of you who will attend, not to mention the great food for our lunch. Several have already committed to attending our group. We will have a great time. Everyone should mark their calendars and send a PM to Melody!

almostfree 03-07-2011 04:32 PM

This looks like it would be fun. Sorry I won't be able to make it, but thanks for PM'ing me about it. It happens to be on my DD's 26th birthday.

Melody 03-08-2011 05:08 AM

I'm sorry you can't make it. But I sure do understand. :-D

Keep in touch.

Melody 03-08-2011 04:16 PM

UPDATE.... Here is more info about the quilt show. I couldn't find the cost of admission in the website so I asked them and this is their reply.

The cost of touring the historic village and the quilt show as a package is $14.50 and they offer $1.50 discount (AAA or Senior discount) on the combination admission. But if you are only going to the Quilt Show the cost is $10.00 and no discounts apply.

Also, if we have 20 or more attendees in our group, we will all get a discount on each of our lunches. And we only need 5 more people to join us to reach 20. I think that is totally awesome since it's only been about a week since we first posted this Meet and Greet!!

And don't forget, we will be having show and tell so please bring something you've finished or still working on, either is fine with us!

So are there any others out there who would like to come along?

quilting Carol 03-13-2011 05:08 AM

Wed works for me I hardly ever miss the show it is a better than a hour show for me but I will go and bring a friend.

Melody 03-13-2011 06:36 AM

Great! And we love it that you're bringing a friend. the more the merrier.

We are approaching the number 20 and the reseved room holds 30 so we still have plenty of room for more. We will be in quilters heaven with a quilt show and then visiting over lunch with other quilters!! (not to mention the LQS goodie bags etc)

Melody

KayT 03-14-2011 12:13 PM

Melody, you are doing a great job posting all this information. I am working on a few things and can't wait until the show. I am will also be pleased to meet everyone and the show and tell everyone should bring along. That is the fun part to see what everyone is working on. Don't forget to make some sort of name tag!

Raggiemom 03-20-2011 05:18 AM

I'm going to see if I can make it up there, it sounds like fun!

sharon b 03-20-2011 07:01 AM

So sorry I won't be able to make it  I finally got a job and will be working- but having already meet some of you I know you all will have a GREAT time  Hope you can reach the 20 for the extra discounts  More money for fabric

Melody 03-20-2011 07:46 AM

Raggiemom,
So glad you can make it! It's going to be a great time. Lots of fun things planned... hope we can pack it all in just a few hours!
We are having a surprise guest that I'll tell you more about when I have more to tell. :-D

Congrats! SharonB, as much as we will miss you, I have to say I'm so happy for you about getting a job! And I do believe we will reach the 20 people needed, and at the moment we are glad the room has a capacity of 30  because we are hopeful to reach that number.

We still have more than a month to go so if anyone is interested joining us, we'd love to have you come. Now is the time to plan and it should be SPRING by then!! A great time for a country drive to a quilt show and lunch with quilters.

Melody 03-21-2011 04:49 AM

Every Meet and Greet is a little more special when there is a LQS owner among us. Mary Jo of TheQuiltBear.com will be joining us for the luncheon. And yes, it is an online quilt store... located right in Northwest Ohio! Mary Jo is not only part owner of The Quilt Bear (you have to check out the website and meet Jonah), but also a quilter and she teaches quilting classes as well. We are really looking forward to April 27th! I'm having a hard time waiting. This is going to be a very good time.

Raggiemom 03-23-2011 04:16 AM

What is parking like at the show? Is it a parking lot or a field?

Melody 03-23-2011 04:43 AM

Raggiemom,
Parking is excellent, it's paved and marked and lots of spaces. Shouldn't be hardly any walking, of course with a quilt show, I can't be positive you'll be next to the front door. It's sort of like a large parking lot for each set of buildings but you don't drive out of one and down the road to another, it's seems to me that the whole Village compound is all parking lot and you drive to which ever building you want to visit. Gosh, I'm not sure I'm explaining this very clear. ;)

And if anyone is concerned about handicap parking there are a lot of them at each building. There are no steps into the buildings and all have handicap access.

Rabs 03-23-2011 04:48 AM

I just wanted to put out there if there is any other Michiganders that want to go, I would be willing to drive from the Lansing/Jackson area.

Rabs 03-23-2011 08:59 PM

looks like I got another one! Starlite lives near me and is interested

Ok KayT and Melody, I joined and plan on attending the show at Sauders. It sounds like a good time and I can't wait to see you guys. We went all winter without getting together.
