Who is headed to Paducah?

Any QB members want to meet up in Paducah this year? I'm local and know all the 'ropes'. I'm meeting QB member beckyw...we met for the first time a couple of years ago and had a ball. She's coming back this year and we plan on doing the same thing. We'll do the show, go out to Hancocks, even over to see what Eleanor Burns is up to at her warehouse if you want. Anything you like. I know the town and the show like the back of my hand...Mom is one of the YoYo ladies too.

I wish I could. It sounds like the ideal vacation.

Someday I would love to go.

It's only about a six hour drive for me so I drive to the show alone. I have my set routine and I love it. It's my ME Time. I stay for two nights. Love Eleanor's warehouse, I miss the barn and tent though. I get inspired and anxious to get back to quilting.

I know what you mean about getting anxious to get back to quilting.... it's like a major "high"!!! :)

Onebyone, I thought I was the only person who likes to go to shows alone! Paducah is less than 4 hrs away and I've been going every year for about 10 yrs with a friend who really doesn't quilt but enjoys the show & vendors. Going solo would give me more ME time. We stay one night so I usually manage to get & see what I want. Of course I'm never ready to return home when she is!

Also meant to say to melodyr that I think that's such a nice offer. It's pretty overwhelming when you've never been (and even if you have!) 10 yrs ago I would have welcomed some guidance.

Yes, if you've never been, the whole thing can be overwhelming. I've helped untold people while standing in lines to pay out at a vendor when I overhear questions that they have. Those of you with routines understand how frustrating it is when you don't know where to turn. Everyone has favorite thing they want to see and do and to learn that you missed out after you get home is a big let-down.

Mom has told me that there will be an English Paper Piecing demonstration in the lobby of the Museum for those of you who want to check that out. It isn't necessary to purchase a Museum pass to do this either. There will also be a paper piecing shop set up at 10th and Park (walkable from the Convention Center as well.)

The churches downtown offer meals at a very reasonable price too. As soon as I get the menus I'll post them and the times. They each take a day and it is one of the most anticipated activities. The Hotel Metropolitan (a black history museum in Paducah) usually hosts a fish fry as well. Kirchoff's Bakery is another iconic spot to grab a sandwich or some of their famous cookies.

Even if you don't need to meet up, ask any questions you may have. I'll be happy to help.

The big dome vendor's (we call it 'the marshmallow') is going up today, they showed the workers putting it up on this morning's news.

Here's our local TV station for those who want to check out the weather and news. http://www.wpsdlocal6.com/

Just let me know what you need. I'll be happy to help.
