Does anyone have any tips on the Sisters Oregon quilt show? Where did you shop, visit, eat?

If you haven't yet, I would strongly suggest that you Google Sisters quilt Show. They have a website and you will find a wealth of information. My DH and I drove our motorhome to the area from Nebraska, specifically for this unique outdoor quilt show and it was so worth the trip. It was something I never thought I would see. Sisters is a small, pretty, artsy town. The show is now so popular that it draws international visitors. Much as I loved it, actually, this little town gets completely over-run with visitors. So, we ate lunch at a place that we were able to get into, period. You just follow the crowd and view beautiful quilts hung all around the town. There is a famous quilt shop there, I can't think of the name right now, but you will find it and want to go there. You will stand in line there, but worth it. They had kits made up and I bought one as a keepsake, easy. We would love to go back to Sisters sometime, not during the quilt show, to be able to explore the other shops, art and food. I loved my trip and recommend it but it was very busy and crowded, (and hot which we didn't expect). Go, go with the flow and enjoy! Sorry this is so long

Wear sunglasses And a hat. It's was hot when I was there. There is a park in town and either the fire dept. or Boy Scouts was selling lunches. There was a ups store there which was convenient, as Isent material and other goodies home rather than drag them around. Did I mention it was "hot".

Try to get out on the streets by 7:30...if you get there early,you can watch the firemen on ladders hang quilts. We are never too old to appreciate art form.

I go there every year. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: COMFY SHOES, DRINK TONS OF WATER ALL DAY, HAT, SUNGLASSES. And a camera, of course! Other than that, it's just the normal fun, excitement, stuff to buy and look at at any big event! The Stitchen' Post quilt shop there is packed with people--if you back up to move out of someone's way you bump into someone else from behind. Get a map of the main streets in town (about 4 of them wide and several blocks long) so you have a visual ahead of time on how much ground you have to cover. If you want to see it all, start at one end and snake your way to the other. My teenage daughter frequently comes with me and she's athletic and I wear her out! I discovered that ice cold smoothies revive me at the end of the day; the heat can really suck your energy. The town now has one of those play-in fountains that can revive hot/tired feet if you care to splash in it. I don't have any favorite places to eat, just go with what is nearest when I get hungry. There's a couple coffee shops in town that people love. You can pop into any of the shops in town since the quilts are all hung from all the businesses. For them it brings in revenue to have the shoppers come for the quilt show, so enjoy exploring. I get there early (around 7am) because I find it less stressful to have the crowds grow around me than to jump into the middle of a full house. Also, they block the streets off in town to car traffic, so plan on that as well. I hope you have a great time. It's a wonderful adventure!!

That would be the Stitchin' Post quilt shop in Sisters. It is hard to find parking in town, but worth the trip!

My DH gave this trip to me for Christmas a couple of years ago and it was absolutely wonderful. It was hard to get reservations for a room and luckily we got one but we had to stay in Bend, Ore. which wasn't too far from Sisters and he started searching for a place to stay in December!!! We bought some snacks before we left Bend and just sat and ate on a bench. He dropped me off and found a golf course close by. It was quite warm so take lots of water, a hat for shade and camera. The quilt shop there is "Stitching Post Quilt Shop" and it was busy but tons of fun to shop in. Have fun and enjoy. We went early too and just walked around watching them put up the quilts. There is many, many visitors so just take a dose of patience with you but it is all worth it.

This quilt show is one of my favorites. The atmosphere and quilts were awesome. This area is beautiful! Would love to go again and possibly camp in the area.
