I used DecoArt So Soft fabric paint to paint the background. I used a wet natural sponge to apply it to wet fabric. I didn't add any fabric medium to the Liquitex paint I used to paint the peacock because it wasn't going to be washed. Since these paints are artist's paint the result came out very stiff. I figured I could use them on fabric just as I would on a canvas and it worked fine.

If I was going to paint a design on a sweatshirt, t-shirt or quilt I would use the So Soft paints or DecoArt acrylics with the fabric medium. The SoSoft paints dry fairly soft whereas the DecoArt acrylics with the fabric medium dry somewhat stiff. But not as stiff as the Liquitex artist's colors.

I hope this answered your questions. If you have any more, just let me know.

P.S. Thanks again, everyone, for your kind words! You guys are the best!!
