Thankyou BlueChicken - it was more that she made me believe that anything was achievable, sadly she got dementia and never knew I became an artist, which eventually led me into quiltmaking. I always believe everyone has artistic talent, you just need the key to the door and for someone to tell you it is possible. I always tell people, 'yes, you can do it" - THAT was the real gift she gave me. Watch children paint pictures till someone tells them they must colour in between the lines, then it changes. Once there are rules we get frightened of what people might say, are we doing it 'correctly" - you have to rules of course, but you also have to learn to listen to your inside 'voice' so the rules are only a platform for what we are capable of creating, not the whole.

Beautiful. Your grandmother is smiling I'm sure.

Would like to see a bit closer detail.

I don't think closer detail would help much, Deecee. It is made of quilt fabrics, furnishing material, dress fabrics, laces, beading, ribbons, with satin stitch applique. Size is 26 inches by 46 inches. All fabrics were backed with Vlisofix and it was formed on a muslin background which I mapped the design out on and worked from the top of the piece towards the bottom. Hope that helps:)

Love things with texture and interesting bits and bobs. I always wonder about the story behind them.
