Hey Gail! No I don't have much for batting scraps! Crazy! I, too, buy batting by the precut roll. I buy rolls of 100% cotton batting in crib-size rolls. The only quilting I do myself is couch throw sizes and smaller... so this works for me. :D

I have my first 4 placemat centers done, and I bought the backing fabric and batting for them today! So the fab is about to go into the washing machine... I won't get to actually sew on them until tomorrow because I work 3pm to midnight tonight, if you can believe it. LOL!!! The store I work at normally closes at 8pm, but tonight is a special, one-time event for staying open until midnight. I'm going to be so tired! LOL

And it's getting so close to Christmas, I have too much sewing to do for all this working stuff!! hehehe

Here's one of the four.... after they're quilted and finished, I'll put them on my table and take a pic of the group before I mail them out!

Thank you Mary and everyone for your advice and thoughts! :D

I like the first set better because I think the colours harmonize more closely.

Thanks Sunflower! The first set of placemats I made for myself and my own dining room. When I decided to make my mother a set for Christmas, I asked what colors her room was and she said, "Beige, green, rose and black." So those are the 4 colors in her placemats. LOL!

I thought I liked the first one but after going back and forth for a while, I think I choose #2.
