The bird quilt is my own design using blocks from EQ7. I do have the pattern up on Google Drive but, I just looked at it and it's an earlier version that doesn't have the baskets in the corners.

The link to patterns is at the top on my blog.

both of those quilts are so different and they are both stunning! i really like the way the cornerstones blend in with the sashing in the first quilt, and the second is quite a beauty all in itself! congrats you must be so proud of her!

I think she did fantastic in choosing the fabrics. She went through my stash and made her selections and luckily I had a large piece of the brown and it's used on all the bird houses like in the roofs, holes, and perches. We went to Joann's to pick out the sashing fabric and she chose that one. Wasn't really thinking about it going with the brown but it's perfect. It's like the sashing blocks are the branches and the sashing is the foliage.

Both are very nice. Can't imagine what could have beat out your quilt for first place.

Both quilts are absolutely gorgeous! My only thought is that you should have gotten blue in your category! Hard to believe another quilt could have been better!!
