Next time, I'm definitely going to try the quilt-as-you-go method! This ended up being a big one and way too much for my little machine to handle! I used Tshirts and baseball jerseys and it will be going off to college with the happy owner this fall.

    My first Tshirt quilt.

I hope I'll get some orders! Now that I've done this one, the next should be a snap! His mom invited me to his graduation party and introduced me to his teammates' Mothers. Several of them were interested, so hopefully it will turn into some income.

You are courageous to take on a huge quilt like this one. May I suggest the next one be done two sided, using Reversible Quilts - Two at a time, by Sharon Pederson Hopefully I've attached a t-shirt quilt I made - two sided. Hope that helps.

I find them lots of fun, each one different. I try to tailor the fabric to the person's hobbies, interests, personality (wild and crazy got red, green, yellow and all shades inbetween batik). Usually I meander stitch - changing thread color as needed - that's the main time consumer.

I originally was going to do a 2-sided quilt. The customer definitely had enough shirts, but as it was a surprise, his mom was scared to sneak that many out of his room!
