1. I recently pulled out some ugly fabric to test the various HST methods, and I learned that ugly fabric makes for great HSTs! Really. I had no idea. So now I know what to do with fabric I never thought I'd use, other than for testing things on.
2. Re: Orange = Ugly. While orange has never been part of my stash (til recently), I needed some for an orange quilt, so did some trades here and got donated oranges. Some of you may have seen this, but I couldn't help but cross-posting given the "ugly orange" thread...

Or check the setting for "flowers." Or something that means you want to be close up...within a foot or two.
My camera is old and that's what I get when I get too close...

You go girlfriend. I agree
Except Elvis. Those little green heads would ride the binding wave and make me seasick.
Elvis is such an exceptional fabric that it deserves to be the central focus of the entire work of art. Anyone that has an opportunity to work with Elvis should consider themself honored.

Tada - finally here is the quilt! I have come to tolerate, if not outright love, some of the "uglies", but truly, I think the results of all of them playing together nicely is pretty good. Hope you enjoy the pictures. I had fun making it!
Every fabric was used and I used no other fabrics in the quilt. One of you will recognize the backing quite well! (The only thing that wasn't part of the entries is the binding.)
I look forward to hearing what you think!
