It is truely a moving quilt! My family has a long history of volunteer firefighters in it and I know any one of them would love a quilt such as yours. You did a beautiful job!!!!

Very nice quilt. A shame it wasn't quilted, it would have brought much more money.

I wish I was a 'quilter' & could have quilted it, but I'm not. I'm retired & basically new to quilting. I spent around $100. on fabrics, pellons, etc & that's my donation, along with 3 solid weeks of time.Maybe I need to find others in the area that would quilt for free to donate next year. My Aunt & others met at our church for as many years as I can remember..all their quilts were tied/knotted.Their quilts were beautiful & appreciated, so I did not have a problem tying this one.To me, it feels like love. Real quilting would have been beautiful! I have to work on that. Thanks for your critique.

I'm actually glad you didn't quilt it because it would have taken away from the beautiful applique.

    Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty,
    God whenever flames may rage
Give me the strength to save some life
    Whatever be its age.
Help me to embrace a little child
    before it's too late,
or some older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout.
And quickly and efficienctly to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and give the best in me,
to guard my neighbor and protect his property.
And if according to your will, I have to lose my life.
Please bless with Your protecting hand, my children & my wife.

WOW what a wonderful prayer quilt. Some one will love and enjoy it. My husband was a fire fighter(shouldn't say was)
it gets in their blood and they are always fire fighters. we worked with the wild land fire fighters for a long time.
this is such a meaningful tribute . thanks for sharing.
