    2nd Navajo rug quilt

    Name: 100_5183.JPG
Views: 1946
Size: 1,005.4 KB I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'veFINALLY managed to attach a picture of my second Teec Nos Pos quilt. If you haven't seen the first, I'll explain. TNP is a style of Navajo rug. There are many regional styles. Others include Two Grey Hills, Ganado, and Storm. I may have left out some styles, as I'm by no means an expert. I'll probably make more Navajo rug quilts, because I had fun making these 2 lap quilts. The rugs are MUCH more detailed. In the future, I plan to make the quilting more detailed, but I was just getting started with these, and I kept them fairly simple.

Love your quilts with earthy tones. I have a couple of books not on Navajo quilting, but Seminole patchwork, one Simply Seminole by Dorothy Hanisko and Basic Seminole Patchwork by Cheryl Greider Brodkin. I also have been holding on to some 'yardage' of "southwest" themed fabric in the teal, peach and cream I think from the late 70's or
80's when those colors were popular....on my long 'to do' list....

Since you said the rugs inspired your quilts I assume you designed them. They are beautiful! Though I don't live in the southwest my home is decorated in that style. I have a couple Navajo rugs on my walls and I would love to do a quilt in the style of yours. Again they are beautiful!

Love what you have done. I'm in Arizona and was trying to find patterns for southwest wallhanging. Where did you find the patterns?

Thanks to all of you for your nice comments. I'm in the process of moving back to CT until Nov or Dec, so I don't have time to describe how these quilts were made. I'll do it after I finish unpacking in CT next week. They are really quite simple - there's a trick to it. You start with a diamond and add colors and wedges to make a block, then slice and rearrange the slices.
