The traditional gift for a 5th anniversary is wood, so keeping that in mind, this is the gift I made for DH for our anniversary yesterday (I did not make it yesterday it took me about a week working on it on and off till the last big push.

It's right on the limit of what I know how to do. I stuffed the tree, and while I've done stuffed applique before, It was only once.

I also used ribbon embroidery for the three blue butterflies in the clouds. I bent a needle putting those on, but at least now I can say I've done it.

Just to make sure the gift had "wood" on it (per my husband's request) I used tree branches at the top and the bottom to hold it like a scroll, that only sort of worked because all the tree branches I could find after dark on the 2nd were bent, so it is a little "wiggly".

The words are hand done, and it days "Like a tree, our love grows each and everyday"

 He told me it was "great" that's way he says about everything I make. I've heard it so many times I'm not even sure what it means. He certainly didn't get all lovely dovey weapy or anything of the sort, but at least he hung it up for me. :D

Thanks, I wasn't sure how to quilt it, but as soon as I put it the the sewing machine I knew that echo quilting was the way to go. I liked the outwardly ripple effect. :D
