Default Inspire

A student I taught last year, my last year of teaching, is graduating from hs the end of May. She was my inspiration last year, when I was stressed with surgery, my mother's death, moving, and teaching. She has cystic fibrosis and is in a wheel chair, but always has a smile on her face and never has an excuse for anything. And she struggled mightily to get an A in Math!

She is always on my mind, and I wanted to do something special for her. It is totally outside the box for me, as I am a traditionalist and usually work with earth tones. I don't know if you can see it, but in the black I quilted words to inspire her. Some of them are: dream; breathe; eat chocolate;kiss lots of frogs;and live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak gently, leave the rest to God. And of course I had to put in Math Rocks!

I am very pleased with how it turned out. I used 2.5" strips, and cut charms to 4.5" sq. Wish I could give it to her in person.

This picture doess't do it justice. It is a really vibrant purple, with pinks and grays and black.

The quilt is beautiful and I know she will love it. Thank you for sharing her courage against great odds. "and a child shall lead them".

Pretty quilt and I love the inspiration for it, I can't imagine her not loving it! Does it come with a box of chocolate? Great job and thank you for showing a young person that they can influence someone, also.
