Gotta love this lilttle guy! Great colors, and the black sets them off perfectly! I'd think his size would kin d of dictate whether you put him in a pillow or a wall hanging--either one would be great!

pillow, no, wall hanging, no, pillow, no wall hanging...oh, I can't decide-it is just way too cute!!
Did you design it yourself or this is a pattern you found somewhere? I love all the color, etc. You did an awesome job!!
When I opened this thread and the picture popped up I said "Oh my-that is just way too cute". My husband was in the room and looked at the computer and said "concur"--that is HIGH praise from him!!!

Thank you all for your kind words!
Yes, it is hand embroidery, mostly chain stitch & VERY easy. :)
No, I didn't design it myself, it was a kit from African Folklore Embroidery (www.aflembroidery.com). The designs are created by women of the Ndebele tribe (pronounced like "in da belly") in Africa. The money earned from this has helped them to improve their living environment, like having electricity! The company was started by Leora Raikin, and one of her 'certified instructors' spoke at my guild a year or so ago. I bought a new kit yesterday at the Internat'l Quilt Show in Long Beach, CA (will post some pics from that later) & I got to meet Leora there. I showed her the pic of my bird & she asked me to email it to her & said she might use it in her next book! ( )
