Yes, I agree, over quilted. Takes away from all that beautiful applique.

That is a beautiful work of art....I, too, tend to like a less quilting look, but seems for shows everything is quilted quite heavily....

That is seriously gorgeous!! I tried to get in close to see what kind of applique (needle turn? hand? raw edge machine? I can't tell). I don't think it was over quilted at all - I think the quilting design was just right.

I too am surprised there are no ribbons on it.

I want to add that yesterday I was at Navy Pier in Chicago and looking at the Stained Glass museum and I took several pictures thinking "quilting designs" and quite a few remind me of this quilt. Way beyond my capability but I'm glad someone was able to do it to (perhaps) inspire me.

thanks for sharing.

That is an amazing quilt. Absolutly stunning. I don't think it was over quilted. The quilting took absolutly nothing from the design. Just starting to get into some applique myself. Maybe some day I will do something equally as stunning! Thanks for sharing. Also hoping to make it to a large quilt show some day. I just love seeing everyones creations!
