Another Irish chain baby quilt
The baby is now 2 months old, but at least I finally got it done. I started this little quilt in plenty of time, but then we decided to move 1200 miles away! Packing, unpacking, vacations, all contributing to a late finish. When I started, the parents chose not to know the gender so I chose a light golden color and a rather brick red (the photo colors aren’t true). Since it is a lovely little boy, I quilted his name in the border along with some swirls. I guess there is some advantage in being late! I used a variegated King Tut thread in red, cream, yellow, brown, and green to quilt it. All I had time for was just a big meander in the body, but it works well for the quilt. I had intended on lots of ruler work, but ...
Binding is my usual machine binding using a feather stitch. Sturdy and attractive. It is in the wash now. Since it had reds in it, I prewashed all the fabrics, something I don’t normally do. Nothing faded in the prewash so I have hope it won’t have problems. I have found very little bleeding of reds in quality fabrics.
