Great scrap quilt. Very unusual block design. I have recently become obsessed with scrap quilts. I have so many of them on my bucket list now. I too like a scrappy binding and yours does bring a nice hint of color to the edge of the quilt.

Yes, you are right, it is a Kim Brackett pattern and it is out of her Scrap Basket Sensations book. I have mislaid my book or borrowed it out, and could not remember the name of the book, and I don't remember the name of the pattern. But when I went to internet with her name, the book came up and I recognized it. Thanks for filling in the blanks. I enlarged the pattern to make a queen/king size and used 2 jelly rolls, so that is why I had extra strips from my jelly roll for the binding.

It looks beautiful! It's a very fun pattern. Using the extra strips is a great idea. As you say, they add life to the border and tie it all together. Your grandson will love it, no doubt.
