I purchased a quilt from the estate of an old family friend. I have never seen this particular block and would like to know if anyone has an idea what it might be called. The quilt was made up of 18" squares, 3 across with 3" strips between. It is a double bed size quilt. Any help would be appreciated

I have no clue either.

What a treasure!
Nice that you know a little of the backstory on it.

Would you be so kind as to post a pic of the whole quilt?
It's lovely!!

I've never seen it either but it sure is lovely. What a great find for you. I wonder if the quilter just made it up as she went...a lot of women did.

I have never seen it but would think it could be some version of a tulip, maybe by Ruby Hinson. Just a guess.

I will try to get a good picture of the whole quilt. It is beautifully hand quilted. I wish I had spent more time with this lovely lady and maybe I would have more information. I have learned over the past few years to ask questions while you can as so much information on families, etc. is lost when our older family members pass on.
