I kinda just came up with my own for my son, here is a pic of it, it was my first quilt. I would go with something he likes, how old is he?

Here are some photos of an "I Spy" quilt I made for my oldest grandson (now nearly 3). It has his name paper-pieced across the top, 1-10 across the bottom, and the alphabet (upper and lowercase!) down both sides.

There are 120 hexagons, with rows of colored stars surrounding them.

    The whole quilt

Close up of the alphabet (you can see the stars around the hexagons better here, too)

I also made a "Cheese and Crackers" quilt for his little brother in some wonderful bright prints I got in an eBay jelly roll.

The "little" brother is now 15 mos old and nearly as big as his "big" brother!

Here is the twin size quilt I made for our 3 year old grandson just this past Christmas. Fussy cuts and photos, my own design, no pattern, and it was my first reg size quilt.
