I had purchased a Christmas wall hanging with several small pieces fused on. After a washing they were separated, and some of them were missing, probably down the drain. Better to stitch them on.

if it's a wall hanging, you could get away with not stitching around... if a quilt to be used and washed, definitely stitch around. they are darling
