I spent a good deal of today making these jack-o-lantern blocks for a wallhanging. They're supposed to be placemats but I am tweaking them a bit to make a wallhanging instead. I don't have a lot of Halloween fabric and these are the two I am considering for borders. I asked my husband what he thought and he said, "ask the quilters; they'll tell you". Is the purple too busy, should I look for a calmer fabric? Is the 'batty' one too much orange? Your opinions please.

I like the purple one. It does not seem too busy.

You will get a million opinions, but I agree. The purple is great, the orange is a little too busy. Wow, I didn't think I would ever hear myself saying that! No matter what you choose it is going to be really cute!

You could also try another orange fabric. What about an orange with some of the lime green in it, or add a small border that is lime.

I was thinking of this. I have some of the leaf green left over. I could make a small border before the purple. Maybe that will give it a little rest area for the eyes. Thanks!

My son instantly said that the orange fabric is the perfect one for a lantern. So if a 4yo's opinon matters we both choose orange :)

I like the purple. I think the batty one is too much orange. And I love orange :)

I love the purple! With the other I think it would be too much orange.
