I am very sorry for your loss. Even when you know it is coming it always comes to soon. I cryed reading this and all the replies.
I wonder if when you picked out the fabric with her she thought someday soon you would need a hug from her. I am glad that you finished it. God does work in mysterious ways,he knew you would miss her and need something to help you through your grief. He knew the colors that she picked out would keep her close in your heart. Please wrap your self up in it.She would want to hold and comfort you.God Bless you and your family
Now I too am crying again,
Chrissy B

I was just thinking the same thing, except perhaps putting the story down on written paper, with your memories of her for the child and stash it in a secret pocket on the quilt? I wish I knew just the right thing to say in these situations, but I don't and I worry about saying something stupid. I wish you and her family all the best through this terrible terrible time.
Thank you.

That is so sweet. This was actually my aunt through marriage, and although she and my uncle were divorced, they remained friends and even had weeky dates for lunch and sometimes went to the casinos. I made my uncle one of these quilts (turning twenty) when he himself went through breast cancer 4 years ago. Yup, men get breast cancer too. But he pulled through. I was actually able to fly out to see him and bring it to him myself, but with such short notice with my aunt...well I have alot of decisions on who should get this. Lots to think about. Thanks again for being so kind.

Thank you Chrissy - everyone has been so sweet and kind. I just love this board and how we all comfort each other in times of need and praise us when we post pictures. Only happy tears from now on. OK?

The quilt turned out beautiful. I'm so glad you have the special memories of picking out the material for it. Each time you use it you will feel her love in the warmth. So sorry for your loss.

Thank you everyone for all your kind words. I think I know what I am going to do. I made extra squares too thinking I would make some pillows but now I am redirecting my thoughts after reading all of what you wrote. When I am finished I will post the final pictures. Again thank you all for being there. :)

Oh, how my heart just aches for you. You made her a beautiful quilt.

Finish it and enjoy it, she will be so close to your heart every time you look at it.

I'm so sorry for your loss... what keeps coming to mind is how much fun you had with her choosing beautiful fabrics... I hope you can treasure those precious moments when you cuddle in her quilt. It is beautiful!
