I love your blocks. If it was mine I would do a scrappy frame on each block. Each side a different fabric.

I would use some color referring to the sex of the baby. Cute blocks.

The barn and the Dog house with the cat on top are the perfect finish for all the farm animals. Red or dark blue for sashing or maybe the chicken wire fabric in dark blue? This will a very precious quilt!

Your blocks are totally wonderful! Thinking of a sashing I think I would do a solid border around each block - be it black or red or dark royal blue - then a sashing between them all. I would take a group of them and audition different fabrics if you have a shop in your area with a good selection. The chicken wire sounds like a good idea - but I would need to audition it first.
