That's so cute & your quilting is perfect on this quilt. Looks like the whales are swimming in the ocean & having fun. I like the idea of a pocket in the back for a story book. That was so clever. Someone is going to really, really be happy with this quilt.

Awww, this is so cute! Love the design on the front AND the fabric on the back. Adorable!

Lightbulb Was it hard to piece the minke?

I used a lot of pins when piecing with minkee...and a walking foot. The whale blocks are large so I wasn't working with small pieces. I used half inch seam allowances so I could finger press the seams open. As for making the bubbles. I traced a circle on a lightweight interfacing. Next I put the I-F with the drawn circle over a scrap of minkee that is facing pretty side out. I sewed on the drawn line, cut a slit in the I-F and turned the I-F to the back and now you have a minkee circle. The bubbles were fun to make! Have fun using your scraps!

Default Here is the label made as a book pocket

The Mom requested a pocket on the back of the quilt. I made her firstborn a quilt with a book pocket. The baby can also put small toys inside the pocket.

I wanted to thank you for your idea in an earlier post on what to quilt on my whale quilt. You suggested water coming out of the blow holes...and I used your idea! Thank you sew much!
