I tell you what :D This is soooooooooo much easier than trying to manhandle a huge quilt through the regular machine - makes you wonder why we didn't do it sooner

This is all freehand and doesn't look too shabby even if I do say so myself.
And as I said, the problems I've had have been my own fault - the biggest one is forgetting to lower the presser foot - duh - something you do automatically but easy (for me) to forget because you are at a totally different angle to the machine - instead of being directly in front of the machine you are at either end. So I wrote on the handle in big red letters "Lower the Presser Foot"..... (which probably won't keep me from forgetting but what the hey....."

My other problem is, I get to going too fast

The machine has not had a speck of trouble going forwards, backwards, sideways, etc.... I'm very pleased....
and I even let DH have another turn

 You're doing great! I have a problem with my speed too. I have to constantly remind myself to slow down. :D

Wow! Very impressive! So we'll give you about 2 weeks' practice, then we'll start sending out quilts to you!

Look at you go!!! I started out with a frame and my home sewing machine. I really liked being able to have more freedom but the home machine just didn't cut it. Your photo looked like you can use pantographs. You'll love that too, if you can use them. Your DH will know where to find you for the next few weeks.

You're just getting too good on that machine.....very nice work for free hand. Looks like you have mastered the Bailey already.

One thing I forgot to ask that I wondered about...if you take the machine off the frame, can you then use the Bailey as a regular sewing machine on a table top? Probably a dumb question but I'll ask anyway.

the Bailey machine is a freehand quilting machine - and has NO feed dogs - they aren't just dropped - they aren't even there!...

which is fine by me - I didn't buy it to use to sew with - I bought it for quilting...

Now it could be used for stippling/meandering etc....

Oh, dear ... you're making me really want to buy a 15" Bailey! I'm trying to quilt on a frame with a Juki, and I know it would be so much easier (clearly) and more fun if I had more quilting "space". Enjoy!

Great job! When I first got my Tin Lizzy, I forgot to lower the presser foot, too! It through the timing off and my husband had to learn how to re-time it. Oh what a mess! I don't forget that anymore. By the way, I just free-handed feathers on a quilt for the first time, what fun and they look great for a beginner. You've got to try feathers!!!

How do you get to see pictures on this message board? I see a listing when I click on "Pictures," but no way to find the ones that relate to a particular message...

The picture has probably been removed from this thread as I can't see it now either. Try a few more of the other posts & hopefully you'll be able to see the pictures.
